Vehicle Detail

The Porsche 914 is one of the few realistically priced exotic cars that continue to increase in value. Excellence Magazine places a $10,761 price on a “Good” 1.7 1973, while the recent June issue of Hemmings SPORTS & EXOTICS list prices @ $12 to $22k for a similar 4 cylinder 914! My reserve is much lower than these estimates. This is a very nice 1973 Florida 914 with a lot of upgrades. 1973 was the 1st year of the much more desirable side shift setup, ending the era of the “tail shifter” from 70 thru 72. I bought the car from a local lady doctor a few years ago planning to build a 914-6, and even bought a 1970 911T to be the donor for engine, oil tank & cooler, etc., but decided the 911 is too nice to convert so the 914 is for sale. You may want to consider how easily this could become a 914/6 clone? VIN# 4732906279, engine # EA 0061847. 1.7 liter with original factory fuel injection. Upgraded with 911 front disc brakes, 911 Fuch wheels, and 911 side mirrors. Le Carrera custom steering wheel with leather rim. The radial tires are in good condition. This is my 5th 914 (still own 2 others) and it is very close to rust free. I replaced the battery box because of a little acid fume corrosion, but found none under, or around, the box or anywhere else. The undercoating was cracked so I peeled it all off, found NO RUST underneath, so resealed the bottom with 3M rubberized undercoating. This Porsche runs, stops, handles, and shifts beautifully. The exhaust system was redone with ceramic high temp paint. Recent mechanical improvements are: new ignition switch, new wipers, inner CV boots, brake pads, caliper rebuilt/cleaned/calipers painted, and brake fluid, oil, and transmission serviced. The black clear coat paint is still nice with some small chips, and there is a door ding on each door not worth a repaint. There is a scuff on the lower driver side of the windshield where a former owner failed to replace a wiper blade soon enough. I have not tried to have this buffed out, but not enough to change out the original windshield. The removable top has been smoothed of the crinkle finish and painted to match the body of the Porsche. The original bumpers are in excellent condition and have the internally-mounted driving lights in front. The interior is mostly new. The radio is an Alpine with CD. The seats are redone in black vinyl with gray & black fabric check inserts to be more backside friendly in the Florida sun when the top is down. All carpet inside, and in each trunk is new, as is the headliner. The sun visors, dash, and top seals are very good also. Both door panels have been replaced with new, RSR style panels that eliminate the flap- top “stick out in the way” stock panels. This creates a lot more room inside. The car is available for inspection at my Gainesville, Florida home. I welcome both inspection and questions. I will also be glad to put you in contact with the craftsman who services the Porsche if you would care to discuss the 914 condition with him. I am a longtime PCA member. I believe the car is as described but since it is 37 years old, I am selling it where is, as is. Please ask questions and perform inspection before buying. I regularly drive the car around town and occasionally drive on I 75 to PCA events, keeping up with traffic. I think the car could be driven home if the buyer chooses to. I will be glad to assist in loading, but the buyer is responsible for all pickup/shipping costs and arrangements. I am located about 10 minutes off Interstate 75 in North Central Florida. Please ask questions before you bid. Winner must make a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Balance is due no late than 7 days after end of auction, paid in US dollars, or certified check from US banks. Buyer to pickup car in a timely manner No trade ins accepted.
