Vehicle Detail
1979 TRANS AM 6.6 LITRE WITH 94K ORIGINAL MILES. ITS BEEN SITTING IN A BARN SINCE 1998. OWNER TOLD ME IT WOULDN'T RUN AND SAID THAT HE HAD JUST HAD IT COMPLETLY REBUILT BEFORE HE PARKED IT. HE SAID HIS WIFE TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND IT STARTED KNOCKING, SO HE, PARKED IT IN 1998. WE TOOK THE CAR STRIPPED IT ALL DOWN AND CLEANED EVERYTHING. WE DID NOTICE THAT THE PLUG WIRES WERE NOT SNAPPED DOWN ON THE DIST. CAP. SO AFTER EVERYTHING IS SAID AND DONE WE HAVE IT IDLING PERFECTLY. T/A RUNS GOOD AND DOES HAVE A KNOCKING SOUND BUT SOUNDS MORE LIKE THE HARMONIC BALANCER. IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANY KNOCKING FROM IN THE MOTOR. ANYWAYS THIS IS THE PERFECT RESTORATION CAR!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING IS HERE INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL CARB AND WATER PUMP. IT WAS AN ORIGINAL BLACK AND CAMEL COLORED BIG BLOCK T/A. BIG BLOCK MUSCLE CARS ARE WORTH A FORTUNE AND THIS ONE WILL BE AN EASY RESTORATION AND, ALL MATCHING NUMBERS. I TOOK PICS OF THE RUSTED AREAS AND AS YOU WILL SEE THE CAR IS VIRTUALLY RUST FREE. NO RUST IN THE TRUNK OR IN THE FLOOR BOARDS!!!! ITS BEEN TAKEN EXCELLENT CARE OF. ANY QUESTIONS CALL ME 740-372-0828 JOSHOn May-03-10 at 06:05:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Please if you have 0 feedback contact me so I know that your intentions are meant well. It cost $125 to complete this auction on ebay and $125 to me is alot of money. So, please if you have no feedback or low feedback just send me an email letting me know that your not some 15 year old kid on mom or dads computer. Also, I have many questions about the originality of this car. I can take a pic of the trim tag if you want to run the codes but I already have. It is as follows; 79 - model year 02B - built in 2nd week of february 2FS87N -2 is Pontiac, F is Firebird, S is Series firebird, 87 is 2 door coupe ,N is built in norwood oh 2FS87 628 - camel cloth int 19L - Black lacquer paint 19U- Starlight black upper A51 - bucket seats CC1 - t-tops A31 Power windows WS4- Trans AM TAN - interior color 150661 fisher time date code I hope this answers alot of callers questions and I am sorry if I have not been able to call everyone back. I do not want the seller to try and drive this car home as it has been sitting since 1998 but if you do as many callers are wanting to you will be doing so under your own risk and not that it wouldn't make if mechanically but the tires are dry rotted and brakes are old. On May-03-10 at 12:34:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I am receiving a lot of phone calls about this T/A and I think there is a bit of confusion with it. This car has been sitting since 1998 in storage. However, I have it running and driving condition currently. I have drove it several times around my neighborhood working the bugs out of it from where it was in storage. It shifts just as it should, the brakes are weak, the tires are dry rotted, but it runs fine and drives down the road. The knocking cannot be heard until you engage the tranny. I have had several people give me advice and from what people think its the harmonic balancer or torq converter. We're just not sure. I hope this clears up any confusion on my part about the cars running condition. It is a 403cu in Big Block 6.6 liter with the black/tan. The most wanted Trans Am! Above is the trim tag decoded and this is an original car right down to the original carb and water pump. I don't think you could find a better restoration project that will net you a better return on your money. It's definitley better than a CD or IRA right now.
