Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1985 V65 Honda Sabre. YES, I have the title! Bike has an 1100cc liquid cooled V4 engine coupled with a 6 speed transmission and shaft drive. Bike is in good working order, will pass a saftey inspection and should provide a season or two of reliable fun without spending a ton of money. Last year the battery, fork seals, brakes, front tire, sparkplugs and air filter were replaced. Valve and carb adjustments were also done at that time. This bike has a windshield and an aftermarket Corbin seat that lowers the rider about two inches (the man I bought it from was about 5'7", I'm 6'1" and was quite comfortable on this seat). The plastics as well as the gas tank (Tank was coated and carbs were rebuilt by the last owner) are in good shape with no dings, dents, cracks, or major scratches. The rest of the exterior components of the bike do show light moisture corrosion, pitting chrome. It'll clean up a little with some elbow grease but will never be perfect. I think this is normal wear and tear for a bike of this age. A crack can be seen on the tachometer lens and also the digital clock does not keep the correct time. There are two notable problems with this bike that I'll try describe to the best of my ability. 1. There is a tapping sound coming from the engine apon start-up. It lasts for a minute or two when the engine is cold and then goes away. Valve adjustment made no difference in the noise nor has the tap gotten any worse with age. According to the previous owner the 'tap' has always been there. I don't think anything is wrong with the engine, I just thought you should know befor you bid. 2. There is a 'flatspot' in the RPM range between 4500 and 7 thousand RPM's. Plenty of nice, smooth, grunting torque before 4500 and plenty of nice, smooth accelerating horsepower after 7k. Some folks say that this is normal?! I don't know if this is or isn't a problem, but like I said previously, I thought should know befor you bid. I purchased this bike with the sole intention of using it to 'hone' my riding skills. That it did! Bike is very fast and not really intended for a beginner rider. I no longer need the Sabre as I've finally 'ridden' up to the bike of my dreams, a Vmax. This is a NO RESERVE auction. The high bidder will win. If the high bidder doesn't follow through with the sale, negative feedback will be left and ebay will be contacted. Please, only bid if you have cash in hand. Please ask any questions and I'll reply promptly. Thanks and happy bidding, Joshua. On Apr-25-10 at 18:27:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry about the misleading submodel listing stating that this bike ia a Magna. It is not a Magna, it is a Sabre. Ebay will not let me change this detail. Jerks.
