Vehicle Detail

Berliet was a French manufacturer of automobiles, trucks and other utility vehicles, based in Venissieux, France outside of Lyons, Marius Berliet started his experiments with automobiles in 1894. Some single cylinder cars were followed in 1900 by a twin-cylinder model. Berliet started to build four-cylinder automobiles that featured a honeycomb radiator and steel chassis frame instead of the commonly used wood. The next year, a model was launched that was similar to the contemporary Mercedes. Before World War I, Berliet offered a range of models from 8 CV to 60 CV. The main models had four-cylinder engines (2412 cc and 4398 cc, respectively) and there was a six-cylinder model of 9500 cc. A 1539 cc model (12 CV) was produced between 1910 and 1912. From 1912, six-cylinder models were made upon individual orders only. After the war, 12 CV (2613 cc), 15 CV (3308 cc) and 22 CV (4398 cc) were produced. A new 7 CV (1159 cc) appeared in 1924. New six-cylinder models followed in 1927. From 1933, only four-cylinder models (1600cc and 2000cc) were offered. The last Berliet sedan from 1936 was Berliet Dauphine propelled by a 2-litre engine and using the body of a Peugeot 302B with a custom made hood and radiator grille. Passenger car production ceased in 1939 and after World War II, the company produced trucks only. This car is a beautiful and rare example from 1924. A very unique and distinctive style from the factory, this car is sure to stand out and the next pre-war car show. This particular car was purchased out of a collection down in Texas where it has been for many years. The car is in very good overall condition and drives out very well with its 4 speed manual gear box. The paint on the car looks good but d s have some cracking and imperfections. It appears that the paint was redone on the car some time ago and is showing its age. The car d s come with a brand new black soft top and a complete set of side curtains that fits and look great. No holes in the top or problems with the bows. The wood storage box on the drivers side is a very nice touch and the wood is in very good condition. All steel trim looks good with no major pitting showing. Inside, the front seat and door panels have been recovered in quality vinyl when this car was restored. They are showing some very minor wear but overall in good condition. The back seat appears to be the original leather for the car. While it is dry and has some cracking it looks very good for being almost 90 years old. The wood steering wheel is solid as well as the rest of the wood around the dash. All of which has been refinished. The four cylinder under the hood runs with no problems and is very smooth. The motor has been repainted but we are not sure if it has been rebuilt. It is connected to a 4 speed manual gear box that shifts with no problems. Clutch feels strong as do the brakes. The steel wheels are wrapped with newer Firestone bias ply tires that look great with good tread life left on them and show no cracking or weathering. The single side mount spare is equally as nice and matches. This is a very solid, rare example of a pre war convertible that many people don't know exists TO SEE PICTURES OF ALL MY CARS GO TO www.tnlgarage.com call Tim 580-314-7893 AS IS - NO WARRANTY This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
