Vehicle Detail
This 1968 Chevelle Malibu was purchased from the original owner in Arizona, during 2002. The vehicle had 116,016 miles on it when I bought it, and passed Arizona emissions with flying colors that same year (I still have the emissions documentation to prove this). I still have the original owner contact information. I utilized this vehicle as a daily driver while residing in Arizona, as it now as 123,133 miles on it. I now reside in Wyoming, but the vehicle is still under a clear (and immediately available) Arizona title. This vehicle has not been driven since moving to Wyoming approximately 6 years ago. Over the last 6 years, this vehicle has been started approximately every 30 days to keep everything in running order. The vehicle has been up on 4 jack stands, permitting me to not just start the engine, but also to run the transmission through each gear, and apply the brakes (to remove any oxidation that may have formed on the rear brake drums). The vehicle has been stored inside a garage throughout the time that I have owned it. I am looking to sell this vehicle to someone who will take care of it, as it is in excellent condition. This vehicle was purchased from a woman who bought it brand new as her very 1st vehicle in 1968 when she was 21 years old. She showed me wedding pictures of her and her husband inside it, grabbed me by the shirt collar, and told me, "You better take good care of this car, I feel like I'm selling one of my sons!" This vehicle has never been abused. I, for one, have never had it over 50 mph. I am asking, please, whoever buys this vehicle - continue to take good care of it. There are not many around like this one. LINK TO YOUTUBE VIDEO WITH VEHICLE BEING STARTED AND RUNNING... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPjSU1ARUv0 INFORMATION THE ORIGINAL OWNER PROVIDED ME... 1. The vehicle was originally purchased on August 28th, 1968 at VAN Chevrolet in Mission, Kansas.2. The engine was rebuilt in 1984, prior to the original owner's family taking a road trip from Arizona to Tennessee. The vehicle had approximately 90,000 miles on it at this point. I am not certain, but the water pump and fuel pump may have been replaced at this time, as they still function flawlessly.3. The vehicle was undercoated at the dealership when the original owner purchased it. This undercoating is still on the vehicle, and has protected the underbody well throughout the years.4. The bottom of the driver side rear quarter panel had a rust repair in the 1970s. Approximately 6 inches tall worth of metal was cut out, and replaced with fiberglass. The repair work was very high quality, and blends in flawlessly. The rust was resultant of a bag of potting soil spilling in the trunk, and falling into the bottom of the quarter panel. It sat here moist, until it damaged the very bottom of the panel. The dirt has been removed since.5. The vehicle had a top coat of blue paint applied in the 1980s. This was due to fading from the Arizona sun.6. The original owner provided me service receipts from throughout the years. I still have these today. FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE VEHICLE... 1. Manual drum brakes and manual gear box steering. I have power steering parts to convert the vehicle to power steering if you wish. These parts are seen in one of the images, and are packaged inside plastic bags. I decided to keep manual steering on the vehicle, as I wanted to keep it as original as possible. The power steering components come with the vehicle.2. 307 small block engine with the original 2 barrel Rochester 2GV carburetor, and a Powerglide 2-speed transmission. 3. New alternator, radiator hoses, distributor, engine mounts, spark plugs and wiring, ignition coil, and heater core. I saved as many original parts as I could, and these will come with the vehicle in a box.4. The vehicle has had its transmission oil, differential oil, coolant, and (of course) engine oil replaced.5. The seat covers, carpet, headliner, and rear tray have been replaced with new aftermarket OEM replicas. While the carpet was out, the metal floor was cleaned thoroughly, coated with fresh paint and rubber undercoating (to protect from any rust), and lined with carpet underlayment/sound deadening material. The vehicle is pleasantly quite on the inside while driving it.6. The vehicle has an AM only radio in it (still the original). 7. The trunk had minimal surface rust on the inside. This was wire-wheeled clean, a rust-neutralizer was applied to the metal, and it was coated with primer (you can see this in one of the images).8. The vehicle has VERY LITTLE RUST, and parts of the underbody/frame still look like brand new.9. The dash board is in immaculate shape. There are no cracks or fading on it. It appears to be in as good as new condition.10. The vehicle does not have air conditioning.11. The vehicle runs smoothly (including the engine and transmission). It is actually quite pleasant to drive.12. The original radiator is still in the vehicle, and functions flawlessly. DOCUMENTATION THAT WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE VEHICLE (ALL ORIGINALS)... 1. Owner's manual. 2. Dealership envelope and metal emblem.3. Owner protection plan from 1968 with proto-o-plate.4. Dealership retail buyers order (detailing vehicle options, original purchase price, and salesman).5. Service receipts.6. Kansas ten day temporary registration permit from 1968 (when the vehicle was first purchased).7. Service manual. WHAT DOESN'T WORK... 1. The windshield washer pump does not work. The motor will run, but the pump won't move any fluid. 2. The clock on the dashboard does not work. 3. The vehicle does not have any exhaust after the collector tube. I will provide a muffler with the vehicle, but it will need to be assembled onto the vehicle with a tailpipe. The old exhaust (put on at Sears in 1973 with 55958.8 miles on the vehicle - I still have the receipt) needed replacement. My intent was to purchase a single exhaust for the vehicle (as I wanted to keep the vehicle as original as possible). There was a company who had a catalog order single exhaust for this vehicle, but they stopped selling it, so I never replaced the exhaust. I decided not to have a single exhaust made, because nearly everyone wants dual exhaust on these vehicles, and it would have been wasted money for when I sold the vehicle.4. There is a minor (and barely noticeable) stain on the carpet of the passenger side front floor board, from the original heater core leaking. The stain is covered by any floor mat, and may even be easy to remove with carpet cleaner. BODY DAMAGE... 1. There are minor door dings, a few dents, and minor scratches throughout the body. There are no body panels that would require replacement, or rust repair. The door dings would very easily be treated with Bondo and a coat of fresh paint. I never really thought they were all that bad, however. ADDITIONAL NOTES: 1. This vehicle is being sold as-is, with NO WARRANTY.2. This vehicle is 42 years old. It has not been driven regularly over approximately the last 6 years. In the interest of being safe, the vehicle should be inspected by a professional and certified mechanic prior to driving it on the roadway.3. A cashier's check or cash is acceptable for payment outside a mandatory PayPal $500.00 deposit.4. Buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle at my location in Bar Nunn, Wyoming, or having a shipper come retrieve it. I will not provide shipping. 5. I will provide a notarized title and bill of sale to the buyer, after receiving funds in good order for the vehicle.6. I would like to have the vehicle picked-up within 30 days of the sale date. Feel free to ask me any questions, and thank you for looking at your classic vehicle. On Apr-21-10 at 17:51:54 PDT, seller added the following information: On Apr-21-10 at 18:21:14 PDT, seller added the following information: While looking through service receipts today, I discovered the original owner had the PowerGlide transmission overhauled in 1996, and had both U-joints replaced. The vehicle had 115,532 miles on it at this point. The water pump was also replaced at this point, and a number of smaller items were replaced (hoses). On Apr-21-10 at 22:32:41 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been several requests for the data on the body plate on the firewall. It reads as follows...
