Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1967 ALFA ROMEO DUETTO VINTAGE RACER History: This car was constructed from a totally rust free bare California rolling chassis in 1995. It was built as a mild vintage racer and raced 6 times in vintage events in California. VARA Palm Spings GP, Alfa Club race, HSR West, VARA Pomona GP. Then the car went through an engine rebuilt and upgraded to the current stage and raced once at the Los Angeles down town GP and one test day. Reason for selling: Too many racecars and raced out. Built quality and engine: 2 liter Alfa twin cam engine with Mike Sperry Head, Cosworth pistons 12.5 to 1 compression ratio, Carillo rods, blue printed, balanced and bench flowed. This engine is strong up from 4500 to 7800 rpm. Dave Evans dynode with 157hp at rear wheel. This engine was built by Alan Ward of the Ward and Dean fame. Custom Jay Dettinger header s. Custom later hanging type Alfa pedals. Oil cooler and remote oil filter. Custom aluminum radiator. The entire car was re-plumbed when built with new aluminum tubing with later Alfa disc brakes (front cross drilled rotors) with F/R adjustable brake bias. The entire car uses steel braided lines throughout as seen on the photos. The chassis: Custom welded chrome moly roll cage. Alan ward suspension includes 900 lbs front springs, sway bar, rear anti roll bar, (2 other sets of springs and 1 additional thicker rear sway bar are included in this sale). Bilstein shocks and I think the car will be quicker with racing Konis. The drive line: Stock Alfa 5 speed box. Used to have a light weight close ratio 5th gear and just replaced with a stock 5th gear. The gear box has just been gone through. The synro are butter smooth and absolute no gear crunching during down shifts. Balanced drive shaft, Alan Ward modified rear-end with re-shimmed limited sip differential. Fuel System: Fuel safe fuel cell, steel braided fuel line, high volume fuel pump, fuel pressure gauge (junk), 45 d c o e Webbers. Body: Totally rust free, high quality paint work shinny red with some minor rock chip from battle (mostly by the rocker panel) Custom painted roll cage. Fiber glass hood and rear deck lid. Custom molded wind screen. The stock dash, door panels and dash panels are restored to look stock. The car was totally re wired when built with fuse box neatly located in the glove box. Absolutely no dangling loose old wire anywhere. Safety equipment: The Sparco race seat is old but still usable. New 5 point Sparco harness. Fire system routed to driver and engine bay. Kill switch and aluminum tow hook. Tires and wheels: The Yokohama 008s are old and need to be replaced. 4 unscratched Panasports wheels. The good: Fast strong and light weight (+-1700 lbs) vintage racer. Beat Porsches, lotus’ and many British made on the track. Extremely beautiful and not just another GTV on track and quite rare. Makes beautiful scream on full song. The bad: A few small rock chips. Old racing tires, I don’t like the Bilstein shocks, seat is a little old, a new coil-over set up by Omega Motorsports at Culver City, Los Angeles is available and would be ideal.
