This is a rare 1986 Mercury Lynx, same vehicle as the Ford Escort. It has the 2.0 liter Mazda diesel from the factory coupled to the standard 5 speed manual transmission. The body is a rust free Tennessee body, the deluxe cloth interior is in excellent condition with no damage. This car was purchased from an estate and the previous owner used the vehicle intermitantly as a tow behind vehicle for his motor home trips. The interior is so clean with so little wear on the pedals, I assume the mileage to be accurate but cannot verify this.The car is way above average in every way and all controls and instruments and factory radio work perfectly. It has a brand new set of tires with 30 miles on them. Brakes, steering(power), running gear is all in perfect condition. The paint is not original, I have determined it is Ford engine blue, and the upper surfaces have some tree sap stains that may buff out, but I would repaint the roof and hood panels. There is several small paint scuffs that could use a touch up also, nothing major, and no bodywork. It has a very good heavy duty battery and even a light duty ball hitch. The bad news: about six months ago, the timing belt broke and did damage to two valves. I have all the necessary parts to put the vehicle back in operation with the exception of finding two valve lifters. I have the new valves, new timing belt for the valve train, new timing belt for the injector pump, new head gasket. The head has been boiled out clean and I have the service manuals for working on the vehicle. The air conditioner is not working because the compressor is bad, but I have the new compressor also.The dash pad has sun cracks as well as some of the weaterstrip around the windows, but are still functional.This is a very peppy diesel car that gets 55 mpg and is a blast to drive, very comfortable and quiet. I am just not finding the time to re-assemble the car, too many irons in the fire. For someone with a little time to invest, this is a very worthwhile project vehicle and is a very rare car. I have the car under cover and can transport the vehicle as far as 500 miles from Chattanooga for a small fee.Buyer to pay 50% at end of auction to my pay pal account, and the balance to be in cash on pickup or delivery. Car has the tow bar hookups under the front bumper for those who would like to tow it home.
