With the introduction of the "new edge" Mustang in 1999, came a new SVT Cobra. All 1999-2004 Cobras featured independent rear suspension, unique to the Cobras. They also used a newer returnless fuel system which helped Ford meet tightening emission standards. The new Cobra had an upgraded 4.6L DOHC engine with 320 hp (239 kW) and 317 ft·lbf (429 N·m) of torque. The 4.6 L Cobra was not produced in 2000. Ford replaced the intake manifold, exhaust and computer components to produce 320 hp (240 kW). Only 4,055 of these vehicles were made that year, and this vehicle standard CD player was replaced with an Eclipse AVN6620 Touch Screen Navigation System. The navigation sytem also a blue tooth interface and is hooked up to interact with you cell phone for hands free driving. It also is equipped to interface with an Ipod. I have the original tires for this vehicle and installed ADT rims with Nitto racing tires on it. I was rear ended in this vehicle so the rear bumper was replaced, but that was it. No other damage was done to this vehicle. I purchased it in NC when I was serving at Camp Lejeune and put it on a 4 wheel uhual dolley and drove it across country. This car has been so much fun and I hate to get rid of it, but the cost of a new home has my finances in a squeeze.
