I have for sale my 1996 Geo Metro Commuter car. Geo Metros are known for two things, great gas and dependability. This car is no Mercedes, but it will deliver 40-45 miles to the gallon, very dependable service, and when you do have to repair the parts are very cheap and plentiful. I bought this car about 2 years ago when the price of Gas was over $4.00 per gallon. I have been driving it back and forth to work everyday for almost 2 years. The only reason I’m selling be because I bought a Honda Accord 6 months ago and ready to drive something else. There is nothing wrong with my geo and is a blast to drive. The car is peppy, you can turn on a dime, park in a mouse hole, does not leak any fluids, never uses oil (change it about every 6K). It is a 4 door with the 4 cylinder motor. I think it is the LSI model with exterior black color and the standard grey color interior. It has the 5 speed transmission – which is what you want – Because it has more power than an automatic and much better gas mileage than an auto. The body looks good for a car of its age and mileage. Sure there are several several little dings, bimgs, scrtaches, and bumps along the car but nothing really significant, consistant of a car of its age. I just put 2 new tires on the front. It drives smooth and does not pull. Two weeks ago I drove 400 miles to Atlanta and back got 43 MPG and drove 70-75 MPH the whole time. It performed flawless. The interior, once again, look good for its age. I will take several pictures and post. No big scratches and tears in the interior. I did install a new stereo AM\FM\CD player and 4 speakers installed. Heater works great – it has AC but never worked w\me because I wanted great gas mileage. What I have replaced mechanically since I bought: I installed new plug wires; plugs, cap, and rotary button (typically tune up stuff). Replaced both CV axels, new battery 3 months ago, 2 new tires a month ago, new radiator about 9 months ago, I put a new timing belt with tension pulley, and new water pump a year ago. I’m driving the car right now and will continue to drive it does not sell. There is nothing mechnaically wrong w\this Metro. The windshield has a crack in it positioned on the passenger’s side in the bottom corner but it is not in my line-of-sight and I have never replaced. The tranny when in 5 gear makes a slight roar. 2 years ago replaced the fluid and it still does that. I disconnect the power steering belt 2 years ago because I got 1.5 MPG better, but worked perfectly before + car is very light easy to steer. The windshield and the tranny have been like this since I first bought the car, dont worry about it just drive it. I have a clear title for car when sold. If you buy this car ....... think like I have the last 2 years. Basic transportation, spend your money wisely, if it needs a repair then repair. Remember, this car is a commuter car and not the envy of your neighbors Mercedes.
