Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1972 Mercedes 350 SL Original down to the original Becker radio!I bought this car about 10 years ago at the Rhinebeck NY car show. It was beautiful ! I went looking for a muscle car and brought this one home. It was just that nice. Being that is was mothers day I brought it home and told my wife it was her Mothers day present.( I didn't mean that I bought it to flip it) My wife already had a white C300 but she took it for a ride and told me that I was never going to sell it! I was offered 12500 about 5 months later and was going to deliver the car when my wife stepped in and told me again that I was never going to sell that car. She loved that car. We drove it sparingly over the years she claimed it was her weekend car. Mostly is sat in the garage. My wife got sick at the end of 2015 and died in November of 2016. The car has been in a spare garage since 2015 I started it now and again, but I never really drove it again. Fast forward to now, I have no use for it I have many cars and have been apprehensive to sell it. My daughters have no attachment to it and honestly other than the memory of her loving her (weekend car LOL)nor do I. Its time to go. Remember it has been in the garage for 4 years. It runs and drives very nicely. Everything works even the clocks. It is all original nothing has been changed it has not be butchered up. The soft top is fine and has a little rub mark (semi tare) that it has had forever. The hard top is perfect and even has the original hard top dolly that it came with, Its dirty, I hear the brakes grind a bit. It starts, drives and still looks beautiful it just needs detailing wash and wax maintenance stuff. I do not have the desire to do anything to it. I just want it to go away and have someone love it again.I have a lot of paperwork for it as well all in a file. Back to the original owner. You see these cars mostly 450 SL s. This is a year specific car meaning they only made the 350 SL in 1972. In 1973 they we changed to 450 SL along with ugly bumpers and other stuff. These I think are the next Mercedes that will be collectable. But what do I know. NADA says... low values is $11,800...high values is$36,000 and average is $25,000……….. Original MSRP Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price" class="help price-label-td"> Low Retail Value This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable ‘as-is’. This column does not represent a ‘parts car’ or a non-running vehicle. Note: Some of the vehicles in this publication could be considered ‘Daily Drivers’ and are not valued as a classic vehicle. When determining a value for a daily driver, it is recommended that the subscriber use the low retail value. " class="help price-label-td"> Average Retail Value This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A “20-footer”." class="help price-label-td"> High Retail Value This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well-maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Some vehicles may be considered “matching numbers” vehicles. Note: This column does not represent a “100 Point” or “# 1” vehicle*. * A “100 Point” or “# 1” vehicle is not driven. It would generally be in a museum or transported in an enclosed trailer to concours judging and car shows. This type of car would be stored in a climate regulated facility." class="help price-label-td">*****Re Listing due to The winning bidder backing out********The winner decided that he wanted a vehicle inspection done AFTER he won the car.It doesn't work that way we know this don't we. He still wants the car and wants to drive it 1000 miles Really? and wants me to find a mechanic to go over it before he drives it home Really? You buy it you take care of all that. It makes me sad to see it just come and get it if you win it please.Ask questions before you bid!Have it inspected before you bid!Come look at it before you bid!For some reason people think that this car is a barn find. IT IS NOT.This car has been started periodically. It runs and the engine is really good. It has not been registered since 2015. It has not been driven on trips and such since 2015.This is a good car and can be a great car, it just needs someone to go over it and perform maintenance clean it up etc...…… You could then drive and enjoy it like it is. You don't need to do anything major to enjoy this car. So please don't tell me you need to fix this and that and buy things to have the car the way you want. You can do anything you want to it but don't expect me to do it This is a nice 46 year old car and for not a lot of money. a non refundable deposit is due within 3 days of winning.Make me an offer. I can and will end the auction early if I sell it.
