Selling a P.H.S. documented 1969 Firebird 400 convertible. This car was built in Van Nuys California, it currently shows 38,512 original miles. As the original invoice reflects, it was assembled as a verdero green 400 automatic with A/C. Deluxe interior package, rally wheels, front disc brakes, etc. The condition of the body is exceptional, with ZERO RUST, all pinch flanges are excellent. Floor pans and frame rails are excellent, there is no pitting or scale on suspension components, all are indicative of its low mileage. The body is straight and true, with very nice margins at all panels, the paint is an older high quality respray that shows some wear, there are small chips that were accumulated through normal use. Overall it shows quite well and is, in my opinion a well above average driver. The bumpers are correct and original to the car, they were re-plated some time ago, but show quite well. All wheel arch moldings are new, as are the rocker moldings, and the upper windshield header moldings. The engine, while a 400, is not the original. It is a YA code, however, the turbo 400 trans and the 10 bolt rear are original to the car. Engine runs quite well, no smoke or noises. It has a Rochester Q-jet and has the original '69 Firebird 400 exhaust manifolds. Motor was recently tuned up, with new plugs, cap, rotor and wires. Carburetor was re-built less than a year ago. The Front brakes are original and correct Delco Moraine units, with with new pads and good rotors. Front suspension has been re-built with new upper and lower ball joints, new front springs, new front sway bar and pin bushings. Suspension and steering are tight and true. Rear springs are the correct multi-leaf units, with no sag, the car sits very nicely. Wheels are 15 inch Rally II with 98% life on the tires. New wheel trim rings and lug nuts. The convertible top was recently replaced with brand new top and pads. The car was built with the optional power top, however, at some point, someone replaced it with a manual top assembly. The original top motor, wire harness and hoses are still present (not hooked up). The top frame is one of the best you will find, with ZERO RUST in the forward header, it is tight and moves up and down as it should. As shown on the PHS report, this car was built with optional A/C. The A/C is intact and installed, however, the hoses are not present, and the condenser is currently off the car. The original condenser will be include with the car. The car currently has a new 4-row aluminum radiator. The original, correct, date coded 4-row Harrison radiator will be included with the sale of the car. The interior is a very nice black deluxe, with new carpet, recently recovered front seats. back seat is excellent. Has deluxe seat belts all around, optional headrests, and a new Retro-sounds stereo system. The dash pad is perfect. New headlamp switch, very nice original glass. Lights, turn signals, brake lights, wipers all work as they should. Overall, this is an older cosmetic restoration on a rare and desirable car.
