Vehicle Detail

I'm reluctantly letting go of my beautiful 1984 Volvo diesel wagon, which as far as I know is one of the lowest mileage, best condition manual diesel wagons still in existence. I bought it from the 2nd owner in Mississippi roughly 5-6 years ago, who himself bought it from the original owners, and it's mostly sat in my garage since. This year I put in a couple $1000 in repairs, and she runs like new. Recently took her on one last road trip from Buffalo NY to Pittsburgh PA and back. Wouldn't hesitate to drive her across the country as-is. The car has been kept in my garage the majority of the time. It is 99.9% rust free, and has never been driven in winter. There is some very minor rust on the trim between the side two windows (pictured), but that is by far the worst. There are a couple nicks in the paint about the size of a grain of sand that show rust and should be touched up. The most telltale places you'd look for rust, like the door rocker panels and wheel wells, are pristine (pictured). Considering the vehicle still sports its original paint, I can't imagine the condition being any better for the mileage. Speaking of the mileage, the original owners kept a meticulous log book of the mileage going all the way back to when they took delivery. It is a nice record that in my opinion adds provenance to this vehicle. The original complete service manuals are also included, as is the original owners manual. As for the interior, it is also in excellent condition, with the most significant flaw being that the cubbies on the front doors have shattered, which is of course not uncommon with the 240. The seats are the original leather, which is in wonderful condition with no serious cracks or damage. The car is mechanically as good as it gets for this model. The speedometer is a little wobbly at low speeds, and the car does have a couple quirks that are "just the nature of the beast" for the diesel engine:- There can be a slight vibration at very low rpm's in 1st gear before the car warms up. After a couple miles it subsides. Nothing mechanically wrong, just the way the car is. - The electronic 5th gear will sometimes not active if the car isn't warmed up. Again, after a couple miles it engages 100% of the time. Nothing mechanically or electrically wrong. The car had these "quirks" when I bought it and multiple mechanics before and after purchase have told me not to worry about it. As I said, I just recently had an experienced Volvo mechanic put $2,000+ into the car (glow plugs, fuel injection, steering assembly etc.) and making sure there was nothing wrong. And finally for the "bad":- There is an issue with the headlights where the highbeams only work intermittently. Possibly an electrical issue.- I think the A/C might need a recharge, because it doesn't get very cold. Heat works great though, and all the A/C adjustments are working fine. Passed NY State inspection just a couple months ago. Relisting due to nonpayment. Based on the historical price of the car and the previous bids, I've decided to start the listing at $6,500 There is no service record of the timing belt replacement, only the previous two owners' word which I tend to believe. The original owner contacting me with the following info: Hi, my family was the first owner and sold this car to the gentleman in Mississippi. The timing belt was replaced not many miles ago but it would have been several years ago, the records for such should be in the files I provided. The issue with the high beams is the switch, it's happened to the car before. The A/C was never extremely cold in this car, it isn't in any 240 (especially wagons) until the 90-93 models. If you have any other questions please let me know. http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=142683Here is more history and pics on the car from when I posted to sell it on the volvo forums prior to the ebay auction. Car sold for $6800 but that was in Nov of 2008, at the time it was the highest price a 240 had sold for on e-bay. Payment: Deposit due within 24 hours, full payment in 7 days. Cashier's check or money order, title transferred only after payment clears. _gsrx_vers_526 (GS 6.6.6 (526)) Just look at the pristine condition of this car. Ohhh, ahhh!!! Note all the new hoses! A new battery, too! Kind of hard to tell in pictures, but the timing belt looks new, 99% sure it is: Kind of hard to tell in pictures, but the timing belt looks new, 99% sure it is: NO rust! Immaculate! Amazing! Stupendous! Front wheel well, not a speck of rust! Likewise for the rear:
