Vehicle Detail

1942 Chevrolet Firetruck. Van Pelt Build Body. 9420 ORIGINAL miles. I acquired this truck in Grants Pass Or. It hold a clear and Numbers Matching OR title. The truck is very complete and runs and drives good. It fires right up, runs very smooth with no smoke and idles nice. Tires are old but hold air. I drove it 10 miles just yesterday. Good battery, lights Gauges and siren all work. I have never seen a Fire Truck of this era built on a 3/4 ton truck Chassis. Basically it is the same size and wheelbase (125") as a 1942 Longbed Chevy truck. The truck has a "Chrysler Defense Pump" also built in 1942 (based on engine number). I have not fired the pump, though it is complete and looks like it would run. It is a Chrysler Flathead 6 cylinder motor. The truck is very straight and solid. ZERO RUST. It did have the windshield frame and headlights stolen while it was in storage. They have been replaced but the windshield frame does have blisters in the bottom edge. Headlights currently work. I have a set of marker lights included and one correct 1942 Marker light included. It does have a place for two Brass Fire extinguishers on the rear. I do not have those. But the mounts are in place. This was originally a Navy truck I am told. The firewall is dark gray. I do have the original painted grill (included). Also I have the original headliner in pretty good shape. And one more hose real. The brass Nozzles on the truck are original to it and included. Wheels are 15" splits on the back and 15" Artillery Wheels on the front. All 4 original Brass Hubcaps are still on the truck. I have never seen brass covered hubcaps and think they must have been a 1942 War Era issue. Seat is recovered in correct material and excellent. This is a great truck, that will fit in a standard garage. I can hold for 30 days while shipping arrangements are made. Please ask questions before bidding. I can have delivered to the Port of Oakland for $250 and Los Angeles/ Long Beach area for $350.On Jul-26-15 at 07:30:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I have a set of Longbed running boards with splash pans. If the buyer wanted to make a regular pickup out of this truck beds can be bought new fairly reasonably. These running boards are very hard to find and I will include them at the "buy it now" price.
