Vehicle Detail

Not a wimpy truck! King-Zilla is a 1955 Chevrolet LCF (Low-Cab Forward) model 5103 short wheelbase 2-Ton Flatbed Dump with many Awesome factory and custom options. For questions call Marcus at 406-360-8628. Here is what you get: + MILITARY-SPEC CLEAR-COAT!! To protect the body from rust. (MIL-C-17504B and TT-L-50G Type I and Type III performance requirements) + Clear Montana Title in my name. (Title will be shipped via Registered U.S. Mail following payment) + Factory Optional Radio! A rare option in 1955, especially in large trucks. Radio hums when turned on, but is missing the antennae so I haven't fully tested it. + RARE Factory Optional 1957 POWER STEERING PUMP. Originally used to run plow hydraulics, this just needs to be hooked up to a ram-assist for factory correct power steering. + 1957 Chevy 283 4-bbl Power Pack V8 - one of the most iconic engines ever made! Rear Casting #3731548 Front Stamp #F703GC. Carter 4-bbl WCFB Corvette carburetor. +Feeding this beast is a BRAND NEW BROTHERS RESTORATION QUALITY gas tank and new fuel pump. No cruddy gas to work through. + Factory Optional Heavy-Duty Power Brakes! This is a two-part option. First it has the optional vacuum power booster. I installed a BRAND NEW FACTORY MASTER CYLINDER. Second, it was ordered with the optional auxiliary vacuum booster tank. This allows the power brakes to work for a while, even if the engine is shut off. The auxiliary tank is currently missing, but these are available at Napa, etc. The mounting brackets are still there. Just for comparison, the MASSIVE POWER BRAKES on the LCF provide 597 square inches of braking area vs. only 259 inches on the 1/2 ton. When you combine the power brakes with 2.3X the area there is NO comparison! + 4-Speed transmission with optional 2-Speed rear axle for 8 speeds total. The rear has the optional high-speed gears for better highway speed. Shift into Low for rapid acceleration around town or up hills. If you haven't driven a 2-speed you're missing out. It's like having drag race gears and highway gears in the same truck. A LOT of FUN! + Rare Short-wheelbase of only 112" is shorter than a 1/2 ton short bed (114"). Combined with the high seating position of the Low Cab Forward body and short nose, this truck is fun and easy to drive in urban environments and tight spaces. + Factory Optional Heavy-Duty Springs Front and Rear. This adds to the commanding height of this awesome truck. Just for comparison, the LCF front springs are both wider and a full 8" longer than any of the springs on the conventional trucks (big or small). Wider and longer springs means better control and a better ride. + PTO driven Hydraulic Dumping Flatbed. Heavy Duty. Cute 9'x7.5' bed is large enough to do real work, but small enough to drive like a pickup. A regular long bed pickup box fits nicely on this chassis. If you want to go that route I can remove and dispose of the dump bed for $200. + Extra-Wide and Tall Chevron Big Rig Mirrors will help you become the worlds-best backwards driver! + On-board Air Tank and LOUD Dual Air Horns with pull-chain will have traffic scrambling out of your way! + Freshly re-upholstered seat is very nice for you or your lady friends. + Factory Optional Wide 20" rims. These allow fitment of the 8.25 x 20 or 9.00 x 20 tires for better road speed and handling. + Heavy Duty 2-Ton LCF Frame has a section modulus (resistance to twisting) of 9.41 vs. 2.54 on the 1/2 ton. This means the LCF frame is 3.7 times less "flexy". When folks think old trucks don't "handle" it's because they are used to soft springs, flexy frames, tiny brakes, and skinny little tires. If you step up to the big rig LCF it has none of those weaknesses. Whats left to do? The motor has new points, cap, and rotor, but could use plugs and wires. The old wires sometimes arc out and cause it to run rough. When we pulled King-Zilla out of the barn where it had been stored for ages, the motor initially smoked some on start up. Each time we run it there is less, so I think the rings are sealing back up. This motor needs to run! Marvel Mystery Oil or Seafoam in the gas/oil will help this process. The clutch could use some adjustment to make it looser. It is hard to get into gear when stopped without really pushing it hard to the floor. Dump cable controls need lubrication or replacement. Headlights work but blinkers and brake lights need some tuning. Side windows roll up and down but one is cracked and both could use new felting to run smoother. Overall this is an amazing truck that just needs a small amount of tlc to become a daily driver or show stopper. Thanks for checking out this cool old truck!
