Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1970 Camaro Z 28 muscle car with 97611 miles showing on the odometer. The 1970 Z28 option included a completely new LT1 350ci solid lifter V8 engine producing 360 horsepower and 380 ft. lbs. of torque. It also included bright engine accents, hood insulation; special suspension with front and rear sway bars, heavy duty front and rear springs; 15”x7” wheels with F60x15 white letter tires, bright lug nuts, trim rings, and special center caps; blacked out grill, Z28 badging on all sides; dual exhaust; rear spoiler and sport stripes; and special dash instrumentation with a 150 mph speedometer and tachometer. I am listing this Camaro for my father-in-law who can no longer drive it. He has owned it since 1985. Please email me any questions and I will try to get them answered. This is an incredibly solid real Z 28 that was frame-off, rotisserie restored a few years ago. The frame, driveline, suspension, and under hood details are wonderfully sharp. There is no rust. The car has been driven less than 1000 miles since the restoration. The restoration was all encompassing. The transmission was rebuilt. All the bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends were replaced. All of the weatherstripping and moldings were replaced. There were all new coil springs and shocks. The brake rotors and calipers were replaced. All of the upholstery and insulation was replaced. A new headliner was installed. The LT1 engine was rebuilt before my father-in-law bought the car so we don't know what is original inside. We do know lower compression pistons were used and a Holley 4 barrel carburetor was fitted. It fires right up, sounds wicked, and runs strong on pump gas! It runs rough when warming up and then smooths out. It has an automatic transmission connected to a 12 bolt 4:11 rear end and it snaps off shifts like a dragster. It is loud with custom made Hooker headers and flowmaster mufflers. The paint is a gorgeous classic copper metallic clear coat with white Z stripes. The body is perfectly straight. There are are three dings in the paint. Photo 38 shows a spot on the right rear corner that has been touched up. Photo 39 shows a chip on the left door jamb. Photo 40 shows a chip in the stripe at the front of the hood, All the floor pans, trunk pans, etc. are solid. The two door glasses and back glass have no scratches. The windshield has no cracks or scratches. The chrome is excellent. The interior has been completely reupholstered and is very nice. The tires are P235/60x15 Dunlop GT Qualifiers. I measured the tread depth at several places. It was 1/4 to 5/16" deep. One of the tires has a piece off the corner of the tread and you might want to replace it. The spare tire and jack are in the trunk. Everything is working including all lights, turn signals, and horn. There is power steering, power brakes and an inexpensive aftermarket radio. This Camaro is not a perfect show car but it looks like $60 or $70K. This is a must see! Email me for a day and time to come by and drive it. Thanks for looking.
