Vehicle Detail
1985 Canadian Volkswagen Transporter Double Cab “Doka” Originally delivered new to Prince Rupert, British Columbia (I have some original documents, warranty information the plastic imprinted ownercard that will go with the Doka) Imported to Oregon in 2003 (AutoCheck is not available for Canadian Vehicles that were imported) I have the clear Oregon Title in hand. My Dad bought it in 2009 from a well-known Portland Volkswagen Transporter Aficionado. And that same previous owner to my Dad completed an engine and drivetrain transplant from a 1989 Vanagon. It benefits from the larger displacement 2.1 liter water boxer motor and automatic transmission. He also used the front seats from the same Vanagon and the front grill and lights. He also fitted the Doka with H&R springs (lowered), H&R Spacer Adapters, Porsche Boxster S “Turbo Twist” 18 inch Wheels and a Porsche 924 Steering Wheel and Hub. During my Dad’s ownership he had the seam rust addressed (very common with these) and a one-time exterior repaint. He owned and enjoyed it for 4 years until 2013. I had first right of refusal if he ever decided to sell it. I bought it from him in June 2013. The Doka has been a fair weather third car and only comes out on nice days. It is always garaged. I have enjoyed it for over a year and have receipts for over $3,800 getting it sorted. Here’s what I've done in my ownership: 6/15/2013 Front & Rear TerraWagen Fender Flares $495.00 6/25/2013 Hillside Imports – Full Service, Tune, New Catalytic Converter, Coolant Junction Pipe, Full Brake Service and Brake Fluid Flush $1,633.00 7/2/2013 New OEM brake pedal pad $16.00 7/8/2013 New Window Cranks $22.48 11/1//2013 Hillside Imports – New Idle Stabilizer Valve Replacement, Oil Change and Trans Flush and Filters $605.50 12/19/2013 503 Motoring – New set of Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 225/40-ZR18 for the front and 275/35-ZR18 for the rears (installed at 135,230 miles and I have only put 1,425 miles on them) $852.74 3/29/2014 GoWesty – Installed Stainless Steel Tail Pipe and Gasket Set $54.92 8/25/2014 Hillside Imports – Oil Change and Installation of K&N Air Filter $126.20 I got a first place trophy in June 2013 in the Water Cooled Special Class for the Woodburn Northwest Bug Run. And a Bronze Level trophy at the 2014 WaterWerks Spring Edition in Vancouver (64 out of 100 points) I've enjoyed the Type 2 Transporter Scene and met a lot of cool people, but I am an air-cooled guy at heart and have my eye on another bug. It’s time for the next caretaker. Clean clear Oregon title in hand. The Good: Runs and drives great and all the mechanicals are sorted – really fun to drive! Handles incredibly well with the H&R springs and brand new Hankook Tires Thumbs up everywhere you goAll original glassThe stance is just right Very minimal rust The Bad: It's not a show car...the paintjob is a ten-footer, there is body filler and the body is a bit wavy, but hey it’s a truck and doesn’t matter if you get a rock chip The heater will not shut off…the heater cable is bent and I haven’t chased it down to replace or repairWindshield has two rock chips (no cracks) Reverse lights don’t work Does not have a spare tire Please let me know what questions you have through eBay and if you’d like to talk on phone please provide your phone number and I will call you back within the day. Shipping is not included in this listing. If you use a shipper, I can help you, by meeting the truck at a convenient location and take many photographs of the Doka being loaded into the truck to document condition. The Doka is being sold where is and as-is...There is absolutely no warranty expressed or implied. $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required within 48 hours of auction end. And then 5 business days to complete the remainder of the winning bid agreed upon purchase price. Good Luck Bidding!I will be posting more pictures this week...Here is a link to 81 photos taken on October 8, 2014Google Plus Photo Album 85 Doka
