1966 Ford Mustang Coupe for SALE! HELLO EVERYONE! AS I PROMISED MY HUSBAND, THIS IS THE 3RD AND FINAL TIME I AM PUTTING MY CAR UP FOR SALE WHILE IT IS NOT RUNNING. IF IT DOESN'T SELL, I WILL GET IT UP AND RUNNING AND PERHAPS PUT IT UP FOR SALE ONCE MORE BUT IT WILL EASILY BE TWICE THE PRICE 'CAUSE YOU JUST DON'T SEE THESE RUNNING AROUND ANYMORE- AND I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA! IT IS AMAZING, 20 YEARS AGO, LOTS OF MUSTANGS TEARING UP THE STREET, NOW IT IS A RARITY TO SEE ONE. AND NO ONE HAS A LAVENDER ONE.IT IS TOO BEAUTIFUL AND TOO SPECIAL TO SIT IN STORAGE, IT NEEDS TO GALLOP TO LIVE. SO, BID HEARTILY AND GOOD LUCK!This was a show car known as the “Lavender Flash” but I knew him as my baby. I chose to call my car a “him” b/c he took such wonderful car of me and I’ve had him for nearly 25 years. Please be aware, this car attracts lots and lots of attention. You will find people’s names on slips of paper asking to buy this car when you just run into the grocery store. People will chase you down at stop lights just to tell you what a “remarkably hot car” you have, or chase you just to see what you look like to see who would drive a car like this. I was always a bit paranoid about this car, parking far from everyone so no door dings would appear, wishing like crazy that no one could actually see the car as it was (with myself as the exception), instead appearing as a Toyota or a Kia to everyone else. Or parking at restaurants where I could see my car through the window. This car was babied to the max, rubbed down with a cloth diaper b/c it was the softest material. Anyone who loves cars will know what I am talking about- Gear heads of the world UNITE. He is lavender inside and out with black leather interior and I will throw in all the extra goodies that are vintage Mustang related (i.e. tool bag, mats, trunk mat with spare tire cover, I found the Chilton and Haynes guides that I used to tune him up all these years and I will toss them in with this auction…). The color is entirely unique and part of the charm of owning such a special vehicle (it was actually a birthday bow color from my sweet 16). The outside and inside (kinda rare) are both painted the same, as well as every part of the car. 8 cylinder, 289 engine (Ford Fairlane) nearly all original. The car was a original 6 cylinder but was changed to a automatic 8 cylinder for me. The seats are from a ’66 Cougar. They are bench seats in black leather. The front seats have a center console piece that comes down as an arm rest and does not open. As for rust being a problem, this car has been garaged for 25 years since I've had it in hot and super dry Los Angeles. It is a California car, so no problems with road salts or any of that. There is no visible rust, I tend to look at rust like a cancer for cars, so if I ever saw any (like on the chrome) it was immediately taken off or replaced, remember I used to show it alot. Last time I had the car up, I rented a bay and I still didn't see any rust except for a simple over -lay on the muffler and I took care of that. I haven't been under the car for over 7 years now. I also can't speak to the first half of the car's life either but I know how I treated him while he was mine. There is a hood lock and a kill switch (which I have not pictured for safety purposes for the lucky bidder). The very expensive wire rims are part and parcel of this fantastic car but one will have to be put back on and is included. It has 5 tires (one in the trunk, covered with an “original” Ford Mustang cover) it also includes a tire scissor jack that I used once. The tires are very large, take a look at the pictures for the specific number and of course, white walls. There is also a Ford Mustang “original” trunk mat and trunk bag and pony keys. I had removed the hardware for the passenger side door b/c my best friend was going to give me another door panel for my birthday but never did. I found the window crank but not the door handle or the arm rest. I know I have them but please assume that the door handle and the arm rest are missing. I will look high and low for them to send along with the car. Here is the straight word on this super cool car- there are a few dimples (you can see the pictures of the 4 small ones, most people would probably not see them, but I do). I must apologize for the pictures; I just pulled him out of the garage, uncovered him and shot away. I am ashamed of how it looks. It used to shine like a mirror with 6 steps of Meguiars system with chrome polish, tire rim polish, tire cleaner, interior leather polish, Windex and Armour All everything inside. I would take a whole weekend to prepare the him for a show but now I haven’t the heart. If you could only imagine what a blazing glory this car looked like at shows’ you would be seeing a dream. I can send you some pics from his glory days if you email me. The “g” is missing from the small Mustang logo on the front panel driver’s side but the passenger side is in perfect condition and I may have additional badges but please don’t be disappointed if they are not included, I will throw everything, and I mean everything into the car that I have left with the sale. It would hurt my heart too much to have them around. I intend to keep the trophies as a remembrance of him. The floor on the driver’s side is ripping at the back and I can’t find the pony mat (but the mat is present on the passenger’s side) and as you can see from the pictures, the leather front bucket seats are in need of repair, my Uncle ripped them and I couldn’t say anything. The back seats are in great shape and I can attest to the fact that a 5’9 ½ “ girl can take a nap between classes very comfortably. Most importantly, it has been stored in a garage in Los Angeles, CA. for 5 years and needs a tune-up to get it running; oil in the oil filter, possibly drop the gas tank, jump the battery etc... (But if you are looking at this baby, you would definitely know how to get it back on it’s tires). I have this in the local paper as well but no one is allowed to start it unless they are willing to buy it first, someone who understands what needs to be done to a car that has been sitting for more than a while. The engine is a lion; truly honestly, it will roar as soon as you make sure all is well before you crank it. The engine rumbles like a true race car, heating up the ground, you can feel the power surge through your whole body! Gosh I miss that sound! However, it is does not have a loud muffler, I wasn’t that kinda girl. I would get it up and running again but then I could never part with him and I do need to sell him. I love, love, love this car, as you have probably gotten that impression. If I didn’t have to sell it, I would not. It/he is far too pretty and so safe and so stable and so dependable and so soul satisfying and so freaking rocking!!! I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH! I am setting the reserve at the price I bought him for about 24 odd years ago. If you are so inclined, part him out and make 3X your money but I hope you don’t. It has been a long time since he galloped and brother he can run. Personally, I have taken him past 140 and I couldn’t have felt safer. This car is a tank; I doubt there is a safer car of that era on the road. If you are the lucky person to meet my price, you will be taking away a true legend of the open road. Most, Most Importantly: buyer pays for shipping, handling and all transportation fees to send this car. I have never sold a car before, so I am unfamiliar as to how it would be sent (i.e. by train etc.…) It will have to be towed from where it is being stored and sent from there. So please be aware that the buyer will be financially responsible for transporting and shipping of this vehicle. Good Luck and lots of Aloha! Satisfaction is Guaranteed! Contact me as early as possible with any questions and I will answer you A.S.A.P! Payment must be received within 7 days of close of auction. Good Luck and Happy bidding! View My Other Auction's Here!
