Vehicle Detail
I bought this brand new in late 1986 and there are conflicting accounts as to how many were produced; somewhere between 1100 and 1200 total. 1986.5, Pontiac Grand Prix 2X2 NASCAR edition.Very poor condition, it was still running when I shortsightedly attempted an amateur restoration about 2006, 2007...It has been under a tarp for the last 7-8 years just sitting getting sicker, never replaced anything...my boy and I just started pullin' stuff off of it after watchin' car shows one Sunday morning!! Yeah boy we were gonna build us a hot rod! What a mistake. Didn't have one ding until the ice-storm this year and took a branch to the right front panel. I had it painted in original colors and decals back in the mid nineties...and a partial interior job in the early nineties; not that it matters now. I pulled it out a couple of weeks ago and realized I can't do anything with it. In need of a complete restoration, Frame Up. Manufactuered with 305ci, 4 barrel carb, performance handling package, body by Fisher. I have all the original parts. Please see the photos. On Aug-11-14 at 12:52:49 PDT, seller added the following information: To all interested parties, faithful watchers and current bidders; I have had many inquiries about the car. To clarify, the car was running when I began tearing it down, it has SAT for 8 years under a tarp. I am unsure of the current mechanical condition. I indicated I have all the original parts HOWEVER I can't seem to find the complete interior door panels, I have the arm rests and plastic trim components but I don't see the lower carpeted portion of the panels. There is a little rust here and there, some visible in the pics. I have added additional pics for you to see. As I indicted in the original listing....IN NEED OF A COMPLETE RESTORATION, FRAME UP. On Aug-13-14 at 08:49:14 PDT, seller added the following information: The center console was damaged when we had the idea to restore. It is not in the car and was discarded. We thought we would build a new one at the time.On Aug-16-14 at 07:15:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Still more inquiries about the car.....The rust is as shown in the pictures, some on the doors and some around the rear window, which is the original glass window including the window seal, and some around the windshield....minor rusting is evident on the original rims, under the hood on some of the components and other minor rust as can be expected. The pictures depict the worst of the rusting / exfoliation on the car. The car is 28 years old, hasn't been running for about 8 years or longer. I would say the window seals are no good...or the door seals, or any other rubber component. The left rear tire is holding air right now.....I had air in all of them to move it from where I had it to the current location shown in the pictures (about 120 yards) the other tires have since deflated and "are destroyed". The car has great bones, but the interior, tires, seals etc. as well as anything cosmetic and even mechanical needs to be repaired, replaced or refurbished as I originally indicated "IN NEED OF A COMPLETE RESTORATION FRAME UP"...I will upload additional pictures today of the frame as requested. The door panels, upper or lower, are not available only the arm rests, apparently they were discarded when we began a poor attempt at a rebuild. After taking photos a few moments ago, the power window switches are there, the frame and under carriage shows minor surface rusting. See the new pics. Thanks to all for your interest. Please understand the car is in need of a lot of work, I would love to do it myself, always intended to, but do not have the resources or time. it is a one owner car that unfortunately was neglected in it's later years. However it is a jewel in the rough! I can't stress this point enough...."IN NEED OF A COMPLETE RESTORATION FRAME UP"
