Vehicle Detail
This auction is for one 1965 Volkswagen Beetle Karman Convertible. The car runs and drives, but it needs to be restored. I bought this car in 1996 and it was my daily driver until 2012. I started my own business and I just don't have the time needed to restore and enjoy this car. Unfortunately it sits more now than it gets driven. As far as I know, everything on the car is original with the exception of the front hood that was replaced by the previous owner. It is from another vintage Beetle. Like I said, the car is running and it does drive, but it has not been driven on a regular basis for two years so it will need some fine tuning. The original 6 volt system has been changed to 12 volt. Cosmetically, it was painted maroon over it's original factory "Bahama Blue" by it's previous owner. You can see the original paint in the picture with the glove box open. The maroon paint that is on it now is dry, cracked, and flaking off in spots (see pictures). There is a dent in the passenger side door. The handle on the front hood is pushed in and the surrounding area looks to be bondo (see pictures). This car has rust. The floors need to be replaced. They were a patch job done by the previous owner (see pictures). The seats have splits and tears (see pictures). The door panels are there but need to be recovered or replaced. The carpet is worn. The sun visors are missing. The steering wheel is from a 1967 Beetle, but I have the original white steering wheel and it's included. The lights and the wipers work. The turn signals work but the arm is loose. It has shoulder safety belts in the front and no seat belts in the back. The glass has no cracks or chips. The convertible canvas top is dirty and torn and needs to be replaced. The top boot cover is dirty but still usable. The headliner is dirty, but still good. The original radio does not work and the speaker is missing. The Dunlop tires have wear but should be fine for a while. This car is a blast to drive and it gets tons of attention. I have brand new running boards that are included in this auction as well as the four original wheel trim rings, two extra headlight assemblies, and a form fitting car cover. This car is vintage and is being sold "as-is" with no warranty. In Alabama, a title is not required for cars this old, so there is no title. Picking up this car is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is located in Montgomery, Al. To see a video of the car driving, go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhFF7ZfxM34 . Please email me with any questions.
