Vehicle Detail
Offered at no reserve is a very special 1969 Honda z50. Bought new with check # 806 for $246.45 on May 29 1969 from Cobb Honda in Grass Valley California by Richard Peterson for his Wife. According to Richard it was used 1 time and then stored in an airplane hanger with some other family vehicles. Nothing on it has ever been touched up, painted or restored, and is as new and original as a 1969 z50 can be. It has a silver neck ID tag which I believe means it was an early production 1969. May seem silly to some, but the original honda grease can still be seen in the close up picture of the silver neck tag. The chain and battery were removed by me so for safety and so it could be moved easily. I still have the original chain, and will provide a new battery with it. Included in the sale is the bike as pictured, the original sales receipt, the original title/envelope, honda warranty policy/maintenance checklist, a letter from the department of motor vehicles dated july 16 1969, and the owners manual. I do not get involved with shipping or crating, please have your finance and shipping logistics sorted out prior to bidding. Restored / refurbished things are nice, but they will never have the character or value of an original. Please check my other auctions. On Jan-30-14 at 11:42:43 PST, seller added the following information: Hello everyone and thank you for the complements and interest. I am very happy that most are appreciating this little bike and the cool history behind it. I wanted to take a moment to address some questions/concerns i have gotten concerning the running condition of the bike. Before going into dry storage a few years back, this bike was started and run through all of the gears. It ran, shifted, rode, and stopped as it should. After that the oil was changed, battery removed, chain removed, and the fuel was drained from the gas tank/carburetor. If the new owner would like a running demonstration I have no problem with that. According to the original owner (which is backed up by the overall condition and original tire condition) this Z50 has been ridden 1 hour or less and probably the closest we will come to finding a brand new one. I wish everyone the best of luck bidding and hope the new owner loves and cares for it as much as I have.On Jan-30-14 at 18:50:01 PST, seller added the following information: Frame Number: Z50A-141611 Engine Number: Z50AE-140951 On Jan-31-14 at 14:55:46 PST, seller added the following information: any potential buyer with less than 5 positive feedback, please contact me before bidding. failure to do so will result in bid cancellation and and you will be blocked from future auctions. On Feb-03-14 at 13:05:13 PST, seller added the following information: As the auction has progressed, I have had a handful of very in depth emails about the overall condition of the bike including some very specific details. I would like to make a few things absolutely clear. The only two parts of this bike that are not original are the fuel line, and the small clamp that secures the rear exhaust stinger to the front section of exhaust. I forget the circumstance that prompted me to replace it, but i did so with a honda part. Outside of this clamp and the fuel line, the bike is 100% assembled by Honda in 1969. The tires are the original Yokohama's which were 1 of 3 brands used by Honda from the factory in 1969-1971 the others being the more common Nitto or Bridgestone.
