Vehicle Detail
1955 Chevy 3100 Shortbed, Big Window, original NAPCO 4WD truck. This is a great candidate for a full restoration as 1/2 ton NAPCO 4WD trucks are very hard to find and have huge value if restored correctly. This truck has it original chassis with correct NAPCO parts. Front and rear axles and Spicer 23 transfer case. From the research I have done this napco set up is the second version introduced in 1956. There is a 56 date stamp on the front axle. Everything turns free and shifts as it should. I have never has it in 4wd as it has not run and been sitting 10 years (indoors). All drivelines are present. The truck has a 283 in it currently that was "gone thru". That said it was 10 years ago, has no carb, plugs or coil, and will probably need rebuilt again. Brakes do work, but again in storage a long time, so I would assume it should be completely restored. The cab was replaced with one that was much more solid. In fact it has a very good big window cab. The bed is good too. I would replace both front fenders and possibly the hood. They have been patched poorly at the bottom corners and nowhere near the quality this truck deserves. Floors are solid, pillers look good and around windows all good. It has a very good original windshield. No back glass and side windows are cracked but present. A few things are missing, dash knobs (original dash is uncut with no extra holes), ash tray, horn button, handles, Hood hinges are bent, Hood latch and door latch catches. Will need wiring. Frame is very, very good, uncut, Solid. The transfer case crossmember is riveted in place, which I am told means it was "factory done". It is the correct 6 lug and 114" wheelbase. Needs a complete restoration as can be seen from photos. Parts in pictures are included. If you want photos of anything specific, just ask. Seat is correct and has a diamond tuck recover, torn, but seat frame is excellent. Gas tank is in truck. No exhaust. Truck was in the middle of amateur restoration, when it was put in storage. This truck has NO TITLE, sorry, I know that is a bummer, and price reflects this. This is how I got it. It does have original Black CA license plate on front and Vin Number in frame is very clear. I can store for 30 days while transportation arrangements are made. On Dec-05-13 at 08:36:30 PST, seller added the following information:
On Dec-05-13 at 14:40:58 PST, seller added the following information: The front fenders have fender spears that say 3200. The previous owner bought these thinking they were correct and are not. The truck is a 3100.On Dec-08-13 at 18:01:17 PST, seller added the following information: While looking it over in great detail today I found a couple of things worth mentioning here. The transmission crossmember (same as any half ton truck) has been notched on both sides for exhaust, should be replaced if doing a correct restoration. Also it is missing the front wheel cylinders, but the rear brakes are hooked up and work, but no ebrake. Headlight switch, ignition switch are also missing and will need replaced when the wiring is done. No rubber for windshield, just sitting in place. Hood hinges are bent and need replaced and hood should be repaired or replaced where hinges bolt to it. The bed is straighter than I remembered, as are the rear fenders. Cab is very good. Clutch works, tranny shifts as does transfer case.
