In truth it is a mid-term facelift with some significant technological changes. Notably, the water-cooled flat-six engine now has direct-injection technology. In 2009 Porsche introduced the PDK which is a 7-speed double clutch transmission with their version of the F1 shifter... It's Porsche's latest and greatest transmission upgrade. There are some subtle exterior changes done in 09 like the slightly larger air intakes that houses the LED daytime running lights. The rear lights have a slightly more complex shape than the earlier models, and are a fully LED composite, including the turn signals. The side mirrors are bigger and the Carrera S gets the four exhaust pipes extension. There are lots of features that make this Carrera S the one to buy. Porsche added the direct-injection technology. Along with new air filters, a more free flowing exhaust system, reducing engine friction that has made the 3.8 Liter more powerful and efficient. The Carrera S is rated at 385-HP a jump of over 30-HP. The Carrera S goes 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds, 0-100 in 9.6 seconds and the top speed is 188 mph. Combined city-highway is 23 mpg, up 25% from the previous model. The extra 30-HP is clearly noticeable... The "S" feels significantly stronger throughout the power band. In fact with the PDK transmission the seamless power delivery make it more fun to drive on country roads than even the 07 Porsche Turbo we had just sold earlier this year. Some car don't you think? I've been driving Porsche's for the past 25 years and every one is a thrill. This Carrera S is as good as it gets...there is so much to love about this car.. From the color combination (attracts lots of attention), the engine and transmission performance, the cockpit layout especially the adaptive seats, the exhaust sound, those magnificent ceramic brakes and I can go on and on..This car is a keeper... The Carrera S shows two accidents on the car-fax and one on auto-check. We pulled the report on the first accident; it shows disabled yet the car was driven away. The report shows minor damage of approximately $3,000.00. The second accident we found nothing. We have examined the car very thoroughly before purchasing it, and it gets a thumbs up from us.
