Vehicle Detail
This is a 1985 Honda V65 or VF1100S Sabre. The Sabre was a standard model bike sold in 1984 and 1985. It's a liquid cooled 1100cc V4 shaft drive bike with a six-speed overdrive transmission. It was rated over 120 HP and was at the time the most powerful bike sold. I buy & sell a couple of bikes a year and have owned this one for a couple of years. Like any bike this age, it has good points and not so good points. This one has a clear title, starts and runs, and can be ridden anywhere. The mileage is an estimate as the title is marked "exempt". It rides very smoothly down the road.. Here's a list of the good points since I've owned it: New front tireDyna bead balancing beads F & RNew wheel bearings F & RNew silicone hoses for cooling system"Oil mod" to supply oil to the heads using steel line and braided hose, this was an issue for earlier model V65 engines.Carbs professionally rebuilt. Anyone that has shopped for a bike, especially a V65, knows the value of that alone. These were done by a shop in California that advertised here on eBay. No transmission problems- some V65 models had a problem with second gear, this one does not.180 degree thermostat with low temperature fan switch. The seat was recovered with new vinyl, but the seller packed it in foam peanuts and some melted on the return trip, leaving an outline if you look closely at the seat. This is barely noticeable. All lights work.Brakes are good. Front brake and clutch master cylinders upgraded to those from a Honda CBR600 for better performance.Oil, coolant, clutch, brake, and final drive fluids changed and valves adjusted within the last 1,000 miles.Battery is good, it is a gel cell aftermarket model.Shifter modified with bushings and new linkage to remove slop.No oil or coolant leaks. The bike has been run on ethanol-free gas since I've owned it. Corn belongs on the dinner plate, not in the gas tank of older bikes. The bike has been garage kept since I've owned it. Now the not so good- The paint is a below average repaint. It has chips and imperfections but the bike is a "10 footer" (looks OK from 10 feet away)Turn turn signals were replaced on the rear with those from a GS1000 (appearance only, they work fine). The Sabre used an electronic speedometer, it was broken when I got the bike and intact panels are hundreds of dollars if you can find one. I modified a CB650SC Nighthawk dash and installed it along with a cable drive from the same bike and added a digital water temperature gauge to the top of the panel since the CB650 is air cooled. It has LED bulbs inside. Everything works, Honda makes their parts very interchangeable. For this reason I have estimated the bike's mileage as 50,000. I don't know what it was when I bought it due to the speedometer being broken. I've probably put 1,000 miles on it.The keys do not match, the one for the ignition won't open the tank and vice-versa.The Honda emblem is missing from the rear panel. This is a running, titled bike. It is not a "ran when parked" or "no title" bike, and it doesn't need the carbs cleaned, so it's not priced like one of those. I'm selling this so I can buy another bike. I'll be glad to work with any transport company, cost of transport is on the buyer- see terms. Transport will be from a business with no loading dock but a large parking lot for truck access. I realize the buyer will not be local as nearly every bike I buy is from out of state. TERMS- READ BEFORE BIDDING Bike is sold as-is with no warranty. By bidding on this item, you are agreeing to these terms as well as eBay's terms for bidding. Like most sellers, I've been burned with zero feedback bidders or those that do not take this seriously. Ebay is not a game. If you bid, you are bidding to buy the item. I treat people as I'd like to be treated. Unfortunately, I've had to file suit against problem people here that do not follow the rules- which ends up costing them a lot more due to court costs. I'd rather do things the easy way by following the rules. Non-refundable deposit of $100 is due via PayPal within 3 calendar days of the auction closing. The $100 deposit can be made via PayPal. The remainder must be with certified funds or cash upon pickup. Once made, the deposit is non-refundable, so if some terrible life event takes place, the deposit cannot be refunded. Cost of transport is on the buyer. The balance due on the bike must be paid for within 14 calendar days of the auction ending and the bike picked up within 30 calendar days of auction end, this should allow for reasonable transport scheduling. Failure to do either will forfeit the deposit and nullify the deal. Transport will be from a business with no loading dock but a large parking lot for truck access. I leave feedback once the item is paid for, I do not wait for the buyer to do so. I'm not a dealer, so there are no extra fees for anything. Buyer will receive a signed title once payment in full has been received. Title will go with the bike unless buyer pays for USPS priority mail delivery ($6 more). Please use the eBay message system for any questions. I will not end the auction early. Thanks for looking at my bike and for taking the time to read the description and terms. If there is a question that is not answered in the listing, please contact me. If you ask something that has already been answered, I'll likely just copy & paste the answer from the auction.
