1982 Suzuki GS550 M Katana with only 6200 original miles. Previous owner had the bike since 1992. Very good cosmetic condition with the usual and expected wear for age. The bike sat in storage for the past eight or so years; I drained and cleaned the tank, petcock and carbs, and with fresh gas and new plugs, it fired rather easily. But, it is NOT ready to ride- It needs thoroughly gone over and mechanically refreshed, starting with the carbs. I have too many other projects at the time and lack the interest. I am not familiar with these bikes and have not been able to find many out there to compare it to. Look carefully at the pictures to see what is there and possibly what is not. Bid accordingly. Again, this is not a ready-to-ride bike. It will need some reconditioning and a new battery (I used a battery from one of my other bikes to start it- the battery did not fit in the box and is not included), but it is quite clean and original. The brakes function well and the tires hold air but should be replaced due to age. The inside of the tank is spotless, the rims appear strait, the chrome is good with minor pitting, the engine is clean, as is the paint. There is one small ding in the tank on the right side that could be easily pulled. the side covers are in tact with no broken tabs. The lights all function. There are minor chips and scrapes that have been touched up. there is a slight oil leak that appears to be coming from the filter/drain plug. There is a small tear in the lower right corner of the seat. Feel free to ask questions. includes original manual and clear Ohio title. The bike has been sitting in the same place for a week and there is an oil spot on the garage floor the size of a tennis ball from the leak mentioned in the original description above. 2. The carbs will need to be gone through. Like I said above, I flushed the old gas and replaced the plugs and the bike fired and ran; I simply wanted to verify that it would run. I did not ride it and did not run it long as it has been sitting and needs to be gone through mechanically. This is not a plug-and-play bike, but it is very clean and original and with some reconditioning will be a great classic sport bike. Please bid accordingly and ask all relevant questions.
