Vehicle Detail

HERE GOES... NO NONSENSE LISTING. THIS IS A PERSONAL CAR CURRENTLY DRIVING AND WITH CALIFORNIA PINK SLIP IN HAND. INSURED AND READY TO DRIVE. DRIVER, BUT REALLY NEEDS A FULL RESORATION. I'LL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO DESCRIBE WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THE CAR. I PICKED IT UP AS A PROJECT TO GET RUNNING WHICH I DID. SAT FOR 6 YEARS BEFORE I PICKED IT UP AND BASICALLY STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY WITH A FLUSH OF THE CARBS AND THE FUEL TANK. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT FOR THE FINE FOLKS OF OAKLAHOME, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CHEVROLET "OAKIE" 914-6! THE MASTERMIND BEHIND THIS CAR WAS A LIFETIME MECHANIC AND DID A VERY INTERESTING JOB. ENGINE: 1966 CORVAIR 110 MOTOR WAS COVERTED TO A REVERSE RUNNING ENGINE WITH A NEW CAM, OIL PUMP, DISTRIBUTOR GEARS ETC... THIS IS NECESSARY FOR THE PORSHCE CONVERSION DUE TO THE MID ENGINE CAR. ENGINE HAS ALSO BEEN CONVERTED TO A DUAL IDF 40 MM WEBER CARBURETORS. THEY ARE NICELY MATCHED, BUT THERE IS A SLIGHT VACUUM LEAK ON ONE OF THE INTAKES THAT I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND, SO UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS A BACKFIRE PERIODICALLY ON DECELLERATION. THE MOTOR SOUNDS VERY TIGHT AND HAS A SLIGHT LOPE FROM AN AFTERMARKET CAM. ONCE IN A WHILE THE STARTER SPINS AND DOES NOT ENGAGE THE FLYWHEEL. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THIS WITH SHIMS OR WHATEVER. HAS DUAL EXHAUST AND 3 INTO ONE HEADERS ON EACH SIDE. SOUNDS REALLY COOL AND PRETTY MEAN. CHASSIS: 1972 PORSHCE CONVERSION / ORIGINAL RESORATION DONE IN 1994. TWENTY YEARS LATER IT IS PRETTY ROUGH AND NEED PAIN. NO SIGNS OF EVER BEING CRASHED OR ANY BODY DAMAGE. HELL HOLE WHERE THE BATTERY GOES HAS NO SIGNIFICANT RUST AT ALL. NO SIGNS OF RUST UNDER THE BODY AND NO HOLES THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD. I RIPPED OUT THE UGLY BLUE CARPET AND LEFT IT OPEN SO IT CAN BE INSPECTED IN EVERY AREA. I WILL TAKE ADDITIONAL PICS AS REQUESTED OF CERTAIN AREAS. INTERIOR: BLACK SEATS WITH A FEW RIPS, NO VINYL BEHIND THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT. BAD SEAL AT THE LOWER REAR WINDOW AND EXTRA REAR WINDOW IS INCLUDED. NO CARPET. DASH PAD IS THE USUAL CRAKED UP PIECE. THE WINDSHILD IS GOOD, VISORS GOOD, EXTERIOR: NEEDS TIRES, THEY HAVE LOTS OF TREAD AND ARE DRIVEABLE, BUT OLD. WHEELS ARE WESTERN WHEEL 14 INCH. HUBS HAVE BEEN COVERTED TO WHEEL LUG STUDS AND STANDARD 1/2 INCH LUG MAG LUG NUTS. BODY NEEDS PAINT STRIPPED AND THEN A NEW PAINT JOB. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT STARTING POINT FOR A NICE LOOKING 914. THE TOP LOOKS REALLY GOOD, BUT ALSO NEED TO BE DYED BLACK AGAIN. I CLEANED IT WITH A PRESSURE WASHER TO GET THE OLD JUNK OFF. OVERALL: DECENT DRIVING CAR, BUT NEEDS RESTO ON BODY AND SOME WORK TO MAKE IT RUN PERFECT. I WILL DO A VIDEO OF IT RUNNING FOR ANYONE INTERESTED. WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT SELLING TO A HAPPY BUYER. IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION AND DO NOT TAKE THE CAR, WE WILL UNDERSTAND. WE WILL, HOWEVER EXPECT IMMEDIATE PAYMENT AND A REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE CAR. WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO PAY ANY EXPENSES WE HAVE INCURRED FOR YOUR CHANGE OF MIND, BUT WE WANT YOU TO BE SATIFIED. On Jun-22-13 at 17:53:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add a little more info. For you purists who would rather see this car as original, I just want to state that no cutting was done to the chassis to install the 6 cylinder. A Porsche conversion would have caused the chassis to be cut and this one has not been so it would be easy to convert back to and original Porsche 4 cylinder. Also, the Bosch fuel pump has been relocated to below the spare tire. Apparently this is a common upgrade. Car has two keys included that operate the doors and ignition, but the ignition switch is a little sticky and you have to play with it just a bit for the key to turn. Again, I will attempt to get a video this week. Any Bidders that are interested are welcome to call me. send me a message and I will give you my number. On Jun-26-13 at 10:56:00 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISION TO AUCTION PLEASE READ: TUESDAY, JUNE 25 I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A VIDEO WHEN THE ENGINE DIED AND I BELIEVE THAT IT IS BAD NOW.IT IS NOT DRIVING THE SAME AS WHEN THE AUCTION BEGAN!!!!! I CANNOT KEEP THIS AUCTION GOING UNDER GOOD CONSCIENCE AND WILL BE DELATING THIS AUCTION LATER TODAY. I MAY BE RELISTING IT WITH A BAD ENGINE, AS IS. I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVIENCE THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED. ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT . On Jun-26-13 at 23:01:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a new update. We were a bit pre-mature on the blown engine. I checked it out tonight and found it to be the carburetors. I did a compression check of all 6 cylinders and they are 135-140 psi each which is excellent. I then pulled the valve covers and verified that the rockers are perfect and no indication of any cam problems. I believe that this has been converted to a hydraulic cam. This engine looks excellent inside! The valve covers are so clean you could eat on them. The inside of the rocker assembly is in perfect like new condition. the real problems is that one of the doughnuts is leaking on the exhaust and makes a clicking noise. the real problem was the carburetors. This is why it was running so bad that I thought it had a bad cylinder. I pulled both carbs, removed all the jets and blew out all the orifices. Put everything together and drove it down the road. Ran perfect. We will keep the car on auction until Saturday, but we seriously want our buyer to be perfectly satisfied so if for any reason you win and change your mind, we have no problem with that. We will go to the second bidder and re-list if needed. I know this will be a good car for someone! I'm even more confident that you will have an engine that would cost you more to build than you will buy this entire car for. Additionally, for the Porsche purist, it could be converted back to original with an engine change and what not. I took additional picks of the rockers, and I attempted a video of the engine running. I drove it tonight, but did notice a possible metalic sound on the rear brakes. This is a 40 year old car that sat for 6 years before i got its and I've only driven it for a hundred miles or so. I would not recommend that it be driven too far, but towed until you can do full safety check for yourself. Happy bidding and good luck. Please retract your bids if you are no longer interested in the car. If you are still interested, then I think you will end up with a great car. Even after you come see it, we have no problems if you change your mind. We will happily offer it the the next buyer and not give you any negative feedback at all. Thank you, Chris If you have any questions, I'm available in the evenings after 5 pm. 209-484-4023. Call or text.
