Vehicle Detail
1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in running driving condition, the car is currently licensed and has a clear WA State title. It has been repainted poorly in a dark green color and looks to have been originally a light blue, there are numerous blisters, chips and other imperfections in the finish but the good news is there seems to be very little to no rust! making this car an ideal candidate for restoration. As far as I can tell the only rusty area is near the bottom edge of the engine cover where there is a small hole, even the floor pans which are a problem are with these cars are solid! (see photos). The nose of the car ( which is frequently damaged ) shows no signs of repair and is in excellent shape. The car starts easily and runs well, it handles well at highway speeds with brakes, clutch and transmission in good working order, I did notice a rattle from the gear shift lever which goes away when you hold it, I assume this is an issue with the lever itself and not the transmission. Interior is well worn, seats are ok but show a few rips and separated seams, aftermarket carpet kit in place, and door cards are showing their age, dash pad is also cracked, clock, fuel gauge and speedo all work well. Headliner and sunvisors both in good shape although the clips that hold the front of the visors are both broken. The steering wheel center has been painted with a high gloss black paint which is about half chipped off. Wheels, tires and hubcaps all in good shape, also all lights are in working order, door mirror looks to be non original. Front trunk in excellent shape with no rust, but spare tire and jack are missing. All glass in excellent condition. Chrome on bumpers is not great with some pitting, also a few pieces of exterior trim are missing. All in all this is a very honest little car that drives great and has great potential as a restoration project due to its lack of rust. A test drive and inspection is both welcomed and encouraged, please contact me to arrange this, I am approx 60 minutes North of Seattle. Buyer responsible for all shipping arrangements, however I will help in any way possible. Please view this video of the car being driven. object width="853" height="480">
