Vehicle Detail

Selling my baby. Owe the tax man so all offers will be considered. No tire kickers and no scammers. Someone is going to get a nice example at a good price! 1984 BMW 533i black (schwartz) and pearl beige. 135000 actual miles (approximate). I am the third (fourth) owner of this car. The second owner bought this car in 1985 in New Mexico with 13k on the odo. She drove it to the tennis courts (my guess) for the next 20 years. When she became too old to drive it went to her son (retired military guy here in San Antonio) and sat in his garage. I was able to buy it in 2010. When I got it, it was a fine example and pure stock, even had newer metric TRX tires that they had for some reason spent a fortune on. I commenced to make some reasonable mods to it, but all with the idea that someone, including possibly me, might want to return it to stock condition some day. Until last fall I drove this car almost every day (although not very far). It is an extremely reliable, supremely fun-to-drive vehicle that I am sorely sorry to see go. These are becoming harder to find in this condition, and have increased in value and demand just in the three years I have owned this car. My modifications include: BBS style 5 basketweave deep dish wheels with Pirelli P6 tires. Wheels need refinishing (look good from a distance, a little curb rash and some peeling clearcoat) and 2 rear tires will need replacing before long, fronts? have significant wear left. I will also include the five original 15" bottle cap wheels with nice TRX tires. The picture of the metric wheel shown is the worst of the bunch. To the best of my knowledge all of the wheels are straight and true. The TRX wheels will be great to have for shows or to roll on while you have the BBS wheels refinished. I tucked the front and rear bumpers and blacked the chrome with plasticoat. I think this makes the car look better and much more modern, but the process is easily reversible if wished. The plasticoat is easily removed (it has held up well for about two years now but could use some touch-up around the edges) and with 5 new bumper shocks found in any junkyard you've got stock bumpers again. JVC after market head/cd sounds and operates great. Rear deck spoiler. Bolted on, could be removed but these cars look SO much better with then IMHO. Short shift kit from Z3. Greatly improved the throw on this car and I love it but will include the stock shifter if someone water to change it back. I recently replaced the driveshaft, trans mounts, and guibo (original had a bad u-joint) and while I was in there I did the shift kit and replaced some bushings, etc. Overall drivetrain is greatly improved and good to go for a long time. All original parts including driveshaft core will be provided if new owner wishes. I have started to switch out a few interior pieces. I love the pearl beige interior with the Schwartz (black) exterior, but wanted to bring a little more black into the mix in the interior. I think that's about it for "changes" from stock. The good: No Rust! This car has been in New Mexico and Texas its entire life. Original paint! 8/10. No major scratches and clear coat is in good condition. I get comments on the gloss on this car all the time. I purposefully took all the photos in bright sunlight so any imperfections would stand out. Runs like a top. Good compression on all cylinders, recent valve adjustment. Cooling system flush and fill done over the winter (2/3 h2o, 1/3 BMW coolant. Keep this in mind if you take the car North). Neither leaks nor burns any oil, none. This is the well respected M30 motor. With continued good service, this motor is just getting broken in. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere! Good history and some records. I serviced this car myself for the last three years and did so much I can't begin to remember it all. The car comes with service manuals and a big stack of service records. I've never gone through most of it. Original manual. New driveshaft, guibo, transmission mounts, etc. These are known areas of failure on these cars, and the work has already been done on this one. Also including 2 good used Bilstein Sport rear struts with Eibach lowering springs if you decide to go that route, along with some other miscellaneous spare parts and a full car cover. Hope I remembered it all. Every piece of equipment functions as it should. Seats and carpets are very, very nice. I keep sheepskin covers on the seats to protect them and I also find them comfortable. Manual comfort seats. Besides what is listed below, I know of no other major needs this car has. The bad: AC not currently working. Needs a compressor I believe. About $1300 was spent in 2010 to update the system to 134A but now the compressor is out. A few small door dings and one larger impression on the diver side passenger door. Probably nothing a paintless dent removal guy couldn't handle but i never looked into it. I tried to get pictures of tbese but it was a challenge. Car needs some brake work. Fronts squeak, and it is time for a new hydraulic booster (brake bomb). I'm including new Brembo rotors for the fronts. My next task was to redo the front brakes with shoes and rotors, a complete flush and fill, and a new bomb. I feel perfectly safe driving the car as is, but that was definitely next on the list. Card needs a new coolant level sensor. $15 bucks on ebay. That's why the dash lights up. Car running shoes nice and cool, needle straight up and down. The service indicators are also lit up. This is easy to do as well, I just never did it. The lights didn't bother me and I know it is getting good service. Rear parcel shelf need to be covered/replaced. There is also a tear in the sunroof headliner. I was going to do these both in the same black material, replace the door handles in black (included)and switch the ebrake surround and heater/stereo surround (has a chip in it, center knob for heat controls also came off-have knob) for black parts. When done it would look awesome. Black and pearl beige is a super nice color combination in my opinion. Someone broke off the power antenna shaft. The motor is still there and tries to put the shaft up every time you turn her on but there is no shaft - it will need to be replaced. Dash has the usual cracks that are common on these cars. Carpet dash cover included for protection. Missing a couple of tools from the toolkit. I have clear title on this and inspection is good into 2014. Registration expired in February and I haven't renewed it as I haven't been driving it. This can be taken care of if necessary. Overall this will be a great deal for someone . . . I will consider all offers. I don't want to sell this car, I need to so there won't be any screwing around. Regardless whether you "Buy it now" or I accept your offer, $500 deposit is expected within 24 hours. Payment in full by cash, money order, cashier's check, or bank transfer will need to happen within 72 hours of auction end. If you need to overnight funds, so be it. If funds are not received within this time frame, the car will be relisted. This car is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this listing at any time, for any reason. I can sit on this if you need some time to pick it up or I can pick you up at the airport, whatever. I can also do what I can to help you get this shipped. I can take any additional pictures you might need and if you want to see it just give me a call two zero three 979 zero three ninety nine. I have great feedback and this is a great car, I will probably cry when you drive it away but don't worry about me, I will be okay:) It is also almost 30 years old so is sold strictly as-is, where is. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have. Also, if you want more details on this car or other E28's I highly recommend mye28.com it is a great forum and an invaluable resource for anyone interested in these cars.
