Twin Turbo 3.5L 8 Cyl Unleaded Gasoline Engine with 350hp. 5-Speed Manual Transmission. RWD. Most affordable way to drive a supercar! This is a 1998 Lotus Esprit SE with 3.5 liter twin turbo V8. The SE is the more luxurious version of the Esprit (as opposed to the GT), and the 3.5 liter is the Esprit’s largest most powerful engine in an Esprit. 5-Speed Transmission, and includes three roof options: standard glass top roof, hard top roof, and the open top wind guard (see below photo). Experience: This is a powerful light car, and it is a real blast to drive. This car gets attention – lots and lots of attention. Last week, I moved the car and the FedEx truck stopped to ask where the Lotus went. I had two young women try and crawl through my window at a gas station, and had to push them back. People take a lot of pictures of this car when it is out in traffic. This should give you an idea of what to expect. Julie Roberts famously said, ‘Man, this baby must corner like it's on rails,’ and it does. It grips the pavement, and in my opinion is most comparable to the handling of a Porsche. When the twin turbos engage the acceleration is breathtaking. Under 500 lb fully dressed with starter, air conditioner and two water-cooled Garrett turbos, is a 3.5-liter 4-cam V-8. Hooked to a twin-disc clutch and a 5-speed transaxle, and revved up to 6500 rpm, it generates 350 bhp and will fire the 3075 lb Lotus to 60 mph in 4.4 sec, and to 100 mph before many cars reach half that speed. Terminal velocity is 175 mph. There are a lot of ways to get from 0-60 (e.g. raw horsepower, supercharger), and this car’s twin turbos do it with a punch. In short, this is a light agile powerful vehicle with lots of looks at an affordable price. Original MSRPs on these cars was $82,625.00. Body: It is Lotus Yellow – one of the most classic Lotus colors. The paint is in very good shape; there are a few very small paint chips. Two rims have light road rash (see included photo). Interior: The interior is in great condition. It is hard to find leather in this good of shape in cars half this age. The only known defect is on the driver side seat piping (see below photo). Since the leather is black you really have to look for it. Mechanical: When the car came to our dealership we gave it some TLC work and now it comes with a 3rd party inspection report and a clean bill of health. The work we had done included: Replaced both rear oxygen sensors Replaced water temperature sensor Rebuilt the alternator New battery Replaced both engine mounts Replaced coolant hose Changed transmission fluid Re-lubricated gearbox and general tune-up Safety Features: Anti-Lock Brakes, Driver and Passenger Airbags Options: 3 roof options, Leather, CD player Power Options: Air Conditioning, Power Locks, Power Windows You are welcome to come look at the car or have an inspection performed.
