Vehicle Detail
1995 American General Hummer. It has 68,000 original miles and looks great! It is a gas model with a GM 350. They made a gas version for 2 years, 1995 and 1996, most H1's were diesel. It looks great, has never been wrecked but needs motor work. It can be started and test driven but it would not be safe for a long distance drive home unless you live in the area of Boise, Idaho. Here's the deal. It was getting a little hot on the gauge every time it was started from cold. It would stay there for a couple minutes of driving and then rapidly (You could watch the gauge drop!) go back to normal and remain there. I figured a sticky thermostat and said I would get to it. On a recent short trip I didn't pay any attention because I was going less than a mile. I looked down and the gauge was in the red. It soon dropped back to normal but it got to hot and is now passing white smoke. Not bad when it is cold and just started, but it gets worse as the engine gets hot. My father in law said it is a head gasket. There is no water in the oil. I am selling it with no reserve, AS IS knowing it will need work. You be the judge of what you think it needs. Like I said, it can be test driven. What ever it needs, it does need motor work! I have been told that these gas versions are a favorite with some guys because they can build up a stronger Chevy motor for them. I don't know, but if that is the case, this is your chance. My father in law said he could get a stock 350 TBI from a GM dealer new from the factory for about $2000. Big job, but likely the easiest way to go if you just want to go to stock. It is a 4 dr pick up. It has a short bed in back rather than the wagon style. It is blue. It has the military style two piece wheels. (The ones with all the bolts!) I had the outer pieces chromed and it looks sharp. Over the years the chrome is needing some attention though. It has the CTIS system but like most CTIS owners, I keep it disconnected because it has the tendency to let you down. There is a disconnect at each wheel and it is simple to engage/disengage. Even new, those systems are a pain, when one tire CTIS seal leaks (and they always do) all 4 tires go flat. When you disconnect at the wheel, it works like a normal set of tires and will give you no unusual problems. It does not burn or leak oil. Never crashed! Tires good. A few small paint dings but no damage. I bought it to hunt meteorites so it did get some off road driving. Kind of mild though and mostly on dirt roads. No rust! Every spring it needed a can of freon to run the AC but it would last the season and not need constant recharging. I have owned it for 15 years. I am selling it as is with the understanding that it will need WORK! I want to sell this face to face. I will not send it out for approval. I do not want a shipper to be the one to look it over unless he is your guy, you trust, him and he can commit and complete the transaction. I set it up as local pick up. I would rather you be able to come look at it in person. You will find me reasonable and easy to work with. If you win the auction, please be able to come out in a couple weeks. If you do not like what you see, we can both agree to cancel the eBay transaction and I will relist it. It is being sold "AS IS", bid accordingly. Please don't win the auction and then come out and try to renegotiate the price.
