Vehicle Detail

The 190SL was the companion car to the larger 300SL. Both shared similar styling features. The 190 was powered by a 1.9-litre, four-cylinder, single overhead cam motor that developed approximately 120 horsepower. This one was custom made in Germany in 1960 at the Stuttgart factory as my mother added items and watched the entire assembly process, drove in Europe and shipped vehicle to California in 1960. Car has been garaged all of its life in the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica and now in Oregon. Added features were the Mark IV air conditioner, all red leather interior (including dash) the "new" FM Stereo Radio not standard on these cars. Her all red leather interior once supple has become brittle, cracked in places and will need to be completely redone on the interior. All parts on this vehicle are original, except a new stainless exhaust system added four years ago to withstand coastal weather. 15 years ago, we had a company use genuine Mercedes paint to redo the exterior. There is a two inch dent in the very front top of the hood, and two minor scratches, otherwise very fine condition. Have not looked at the undercarriage. We had replaced a portion of the passenger side underbody due to rusting several years ago. The chrome bumpers have all-over pitting but are solid. One glass panel from rear bumper license light is missing. Car was overhauled 5 years ago and was running well and 4 new radial whitewall tires were added. After overhaul, I drove the care about 200 miles and it has since been in the garage and now has flat tires and has not been run in 5 years. It will need another clean-out, battery, etc. Exterior wheel rims show spots of rusting on the paint. Removable hard top is original to the car; the soft black top has long since disappeared. Push button start once the key has been engaged. The seats have been covered but will most likely need to be reupholstered. A desirable option, which is included on this car, was the third person transversal seat that was large enough to accommodate an adult passenger. . The S represented 'Sports' while the L meant Light, or 'Sehr Leicht' but has a curb weight of 2560 pounds. You can tell by now I am not well versed in automobiles, so please ask questions. It will take a bit of time and funds to restore her to her height of perfection. Payment is to be in full and in cash only, no cashier or personal checks or money orders. Non-refundable $1,000 due via Paypal at end of auction to hold sale for two weeks to complete the transaction. Buyer Responsible for establishing removal method and for all costs involved removing vehicle.
