Vehicle Detail
2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, Natural Gas (CNG) Up for sale is our 2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. This car is a factory CNG (Natural Gas) vehicle. Since I do not want to violate eBay's terms and use regarding outside links, I can only tell you that if you want to know details about natural gas fueling, a quick search should yield good results. What I will tell you is that Compressed Natural Gas is exactly what it sounds like - it's the same natural gas your furnace may run off of, only compressed to high pressure. The tanks are quite safe (do a search on CNG vs gasoline safety to find full details, but both have advantages and disadvantages. We prefer CNG because it is a closed system and the fuel would dissipate rather than pool in an accident.) One can expect about the same fuel economy per Gallon Gasoline Equivalent (GGE) of CNG as one gets with gasoline. The fuel, however, burns cleaner and at a higher octane, so dedicated natural gas vehicles have less carbon buildup. It is also cheaper, though it varies in price from market to market. A search for CNG Fuel Prices and Fueling Stations in your area is highly recommended before bidding on this vehicle. We have had a total of four CNG Ford Crown Victorias. All have been durable, dependable cars, and in fact we are currently driving one every day. All are currently on the road still, two of them with more than double the miles that are on this gem! These cars came from various cities, but along with other types of vehicles we have bought, the best condition of everything was the stuff that came from the city of Albuquerque. They take exceptionally good care of their vehicles, and we have no reason to suspect this former Albuquerque car to be any different. Of all of the surplus vehicles we have seen, this is the most pristine! This car was bought for a security company who lost their contract and never paid for delivery. This car would make a great security vehicle, taxi, or personal vehicle anywhere CNG fueling infrastructure exists! We have checked the car over thourally, test-driven it, and everything checks out great. It has a full tank of CNG and a fresh service including oil change. If sold to a Colorado buyer, we will bring it for a fresh emissions test. Please, keep in mind that this is a CNG-ONLY vehicle. It is not a dual-fuel vehicle. If you don't intend to use it in an area that has Natural Gas fueling locations, you do not want this car. However, if you want to save $1.00-$2.50 per gallon all while using a cleaner domestic fuel, and if you have the fueling stations (or wish to purchase and install a Fuelmaker - a home fueling device), then this is a great car for you! Please also keep in mind that because the national CNG fueling infrastructure is incomplete, you cannot plan on flying in and driving this car home, unless perhaps you were in Utah. (Sufficient infrastructure exists to make the trip from Denver to Salt Lake City on I-80 or I-70, if all stations are open and operable, but call ahead and have contact numbers for each station. CNG is not like diesel. Also, Colorado stations use a Clean Energy card. If you don't have one, you won't be able to fuel. The vehicle comes with a full tank, but if you are driving it anywhere but the Colorado Front Range region, planning ahead for fuel is not just recommended, it is necessary.) Features:4.6 liter V-8 Natural Gas engine.FACTORY Natural Gas vehicle. Not a conversion. California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified, should have absolutely no problems with emissions, unlike some conversions. (We cannot guarantee that your municipality hasn't passed some law we are not aware of, but the common complaint with conversions is that they are not CARB certified. Many places outside California use the CARB specifications which are stricter than EPA regulations.) It also has the specific modifications made to get the most out of the 4.6 liter V8 with Natural Gas. Having driven many factory CNG vehicles and many conversions, factory CNG wins hands-down.4-speed overdrive automatic transmission.Tilt wheel.Driver and passenger's air bags.Power windows and door locks - all work, including rear doors. Rear doors even work from inside (rare for an ex-police car, usually you have to dig through a junk yard for the rods and handles.)Power adjustable mirrors.Front cloth bucket seats.Rear vinyl bench seat. NOTE: This car had a plastic rear seat and floor pan when it was a police car. We have replaced this with a vinyl seat, and plugged the holes for the floor pan drains. However, there is no center seat belt. Both shoulder harnesses and their buckles are in place and operable, but if the buyer wishes to seat three people in the back seat, a center seat belt will need to be added.AM/FM Ford Factory RadioDigital ClockAir conditioning (ice cold. Crown Victorias have very strong air conditioning, and this car is no exception.)Auxiliary police dome light (manual.)Dome light with two map lights. NOTE - the dome light does not come on when the door opens. This is a common modification for the police interceptors. Dome lights do come on with switch.Police spotlight on driver's side. Works perfectly.Police wiring harness intact. Police 2-way radio bracket intact. Some antenna wires intact - no guarantee that any police-related equipment works, but a lot is still there if use as a security vehicle or taxi is wanted. If not, this does provide additional power that is easily tapped into that could be used for other accessories, such as amps, power inverters, etc.Police push bar mounting brackets. We will be covering the brackets with foam as a temporary safety measure, or else just walking by them with shorts may be quite hazardous. If the buyer wishes to put a new or used push bar on, that option is open. Otherwise, the buyer can easily remove the brackets or have a mechanic do so, as they appear to be only bolted on, not welded in any way.Tires in good condition, all matched size and style, though not an exact matched set.Known problems:Some wear and tear on carpet, steering wheel and door panels from use.Misc. small paint scuffs. Some lettering from when it was a police cruiser still visible if one looks hard for it (very faint, mostly appears due to uneven sun fading.) Decals have been removed, and lettering is not very noticeable unless up close.Rear center seat belt missing.Front push bar brackets need to be removed if push bar is not going to be fitted.Dome light does not come on when door is opened (police modification, probably.)Tires are not a matched set, though they are a perfectly serviceable set of tires with plenty of wear left.Terms of sale: This is a standard auction.
