Vehicle Detail
The car was purchased by the current owner in unmolested, factory original, 'survivor' condition several years ago, with 64, 670 original miles as a diamond in the rough! It now has 65,367 miles. As you can see, the owner had little time to enjoy this very nice classic Chevy. Blue Flame 6 cylinder is original. The owner who is a fastidious mechanic, replaced the original cam with a factory spec cam and new fuel pump (lobe worn down effecting function of fuel pump}. Engine, Powerglide, all the way back to rear axle ALL original. Roof liner is beautiful. New trunk pan edge across full rear as well as door panel edges on inside and outside were installed correctly by The Mod Shop in PA (see images and below reference). Frame is original, has surface rust and not restored, but in very good condition....I inspected. The inside surface of the floor pans and trunk pan were abrasively treated then a coating of a rhino-liner type material was applied, then new carpet installed. Seats were then recovered as ‘tuck and roll’ faux leather in black (not as original). Complete body has undergone a repaint in Matador Red and India Ivory which I would grade as a 7 out of 10. These are not the original colors. Original colors are: India Ivory over Onyx Black (see below Cowl Tag data). This automobile has it's original heater, oil bath air cleaner, starter, and generator, Fuel tank is new. Blue Flame starts right up, runs smooth, ready to drive away. *This classic automobile is not perfect, but a very nice, well-preserved daily driver that would show very well in public and parades and bring great enjoyment to any individual or family. The front fenders and both inner fender wells were replaced with OEM products and are straight and the panel gaps are likely on par with the original alignment. This was completed by a restoration shop called “The Mod Shop” (www.themodshop.org) in Bellefonte, PA. Inside of the trunk lid and hood are very good. The stainless trim is original and in pretty good shape and only has minor blems. *The trunk lid does need a manual alignment as it is off a little. See my photo. The chrome shows well (in my images this will show as a bit dusty). Windows are all good and crank up and down as they should. Manual brakes and steering. Brand new exhaust system. A few paint chips here and there, please see my pics. The original radio turns on but only buzzes probably because it is AM and we are out in the middle of nowhere. Single barrel carburetor is original. The edging of the new carpet, all the way around, needs attention with re-installation of mold trim pieces (see images). Owner's health changed just before completion of this phase so some things were left not quite completed. Original hubcaps (nice). Has electric wipers, new exhaust system, new headlamp buckets, new gas tank, and rather new front brakes. Owner has purchased and installed 5 new wide whitewall bias ply tires – size 710-15. Kick panels and vents are new which need to be installed (see pics). The 4 original sill plates are in excellent condition and need to be installed (see photo). All four doors close nicely as they should. Original fender skirts are negotiable. See my photo of the original antennae and rear fender support brackets which need to be installed. The body panels are quite straight and the panel gaps are likely on par with the original alignment (with exception of the trunk gap as mentioned earlier). The doors and hood shut well with little effort. The paint presents well and there are a few areas that have been chipped and touched up. It could use a buffing. At a local show it would do very well as it always attracted a great deal of attention wherever owner would take it. The Harrison radiator is brass and is original to the car (see pics of stampings). Tried my best to get photos of the stamp on top of the frame rail under driver's seat with no luck......all came out black. Critical Numbers VIN Tag: C 56B156226 – Baltimore built on Thurs, July 12 1956. Engine Pad Stamp (serial #) on passenger side of the Blue Flame is: 0341819T56Y. Block CASTING NUMBERS - 383 7004 GM (6 Cyl. w/ Single Hole Water Pump) Cowl Tag: STYLE 56-1019D (56 - Year 1019D - 4 Dr Sedan) BODY No. - M27398 (Baltimore Fisher Body plant 27398 - numerical Prod #) TRIM - 573 - Ivory Vinyl w/ Charcoal Gray Pattern Cloth TOP PAINT - 701 - India Ivory over Onyx Black This Collector shoebox car is ready for enjoyment and likely to gain in value. More and more uncommon in this condition as each day goes by. It is a terrific combination of fairly correct originality and regular upkeep which needs little attention to clean-up and go. A fun driver with plenty of potential as an investment grade automobile. Owner has obviously taken good care of this Classic automobile and has more money invested in this car than the reserve price. Title is Clear and the VIN Serial Numbers are on the Title. This Classic vehicle may be seen and driven prior to purchase or inspected by a third party. I'd highly recommend a personal inspection. You should be 100% comfortable with your purchase. A personal visit by a potential buyer will NOT leave them disappointed. Get in her and drive it away. I CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING.
