1991 vw jetta . has 1.6 diesel non turbo. 5 speed trans. at 145,000 miles the tranny went bad . i had another jetta with rough body that i got from a guy that had the motor, trans, pump and axles rebuilt and had approx. 15,000 miles on it. so i took that whole set up and had it put into this 91 jetta. its been running fine. it seems like the trans is geared higher than the old one. you can go faster and it doesnt sound wound up like the old trans. it does have a couple of rust spots as seen in pics on drivers side rear door and by the windshield witch has a crack. the crack doesnt bother me so i didnt bother replacing it yet. but it should be replaced . the air doesnt work but is there. it shifts fine if you shift norma and gentlel. the interior looks ok to me but the car does have a few miles on it so it not new. if you are in a hurry like a kid and try to speed shift it, it will grind a lil bit in second but not always. i dont think anything is wrong but want to be honest about everything. the brakes are new. the front left caliper has a the bottom bolt that holds the caliper on is broke but it still works fine like it is. it has an excellent workig block heater. when the temp drops way down i keep it plugged in. i figure it will last longer if i take care of it. the tires are all rather new. all struts have been replaced. the rear wheel bearings are new. all door handles are about 1 year old along with a couple of the window winder cables. cant remember witch ones. has a kenwood am/fm cassette radio that works ok. rear defroster works. horn fell off. it is currently inspected. gets anywhere from 43 to 50 mpg. it just depends on how you drive. when i got it in 2009 i put a new brake booster in it. exaust is good except the guys that put the motor in said they had to modify it to put the motor in but i havent had any trouble with it. i change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles. i use rotella 15-40 and fram filter. ive taken this car regularly on trips of 160 miles one way. ive even had it to st. louis, mo. a few times. i wouldnt be afraid to drive it across the country if i needed to. i just gut a newer model that my wife can drive also and want to give it a try after i get it fixed up. in fact , if it doesnt sell and i dont get the newer one ready in time , i will be taking it to vegas for for a training class im going to. you are welcome to come check it over good before you bid. i am currently still using it so mileage could change . its for sale locally so i retain the right to end auction early if it sells locally. please bid to buy and not to come tire kick. do that first. scammers forget it. anyone that needs to pay by check cannot pick up the car until my bank clears your check witch is 10 to 15 days. all sales are final. no refunds. no returns. no warranty and all that stuff. please dont bid then see if you have the money or if your other half allows you to buy it. if you need it delivered we may be able to work something out as long as it is paid for in full. if you would like the item shipped i will help any way i can but it is totally your responsability and you pay your shipper yourself.On Jan-25-12 at 06:26:54 PST, seller added the following information:i took the car for a drive yesterday because i havent noticed that gear grind i mentioned and i couldnt get it to do it at all. even when shifting fast. my mechanic says that i probabley was used to the old trans and clutch adjustment and when i had the new one put in i wasnt pushing the clutch in far enough on the new one. now im used to it and thats why its not doing it anymore.On Jan-26-12 at 13:43:07 PST, seller added the following information:a buyer just asked me where they could fly into to pick up the jetta and how he could get it so i figured i would add this. anyone who wishes to buy the jetta and fly in . i would be happy to pick you up at the pittsburgh airport just give me some advance notice.
