This is a solid 1957 Mercury Montclair. I am selling this car for an estate. It ran and drove 3 years ago when the owner died. They just drove it around the yard, not on the street. The mechanic where these cars are stored will try to get it running again be for the end of the auction. He believes this car is equiped with th 312 Y Block. The body has very little rust and no dents. The only spot where it is rusted through is on the decklid behind the rear window. The chrome for the drivers side is in the trunk. The frame is solid. I have found no holes in the trunk or floor. The headliner is falling down and the front seat has some mouse damage, otherwise the interior looks pretty decent. The steering wheel has a few cracks. The car has power steering and power brakes. All of the glass is good. The drivers door does not latch. The paint appears to be original. The original title has been lost, but one of the family members works for the Ford dealer in town and is getting a new title for it. I will mail the title, a copy of the power of attourney and a copy of the death certificate to the winning bidder. From my experiance this is all that is required to transfer the title on an estate vehicle. If there is another item of paper work you think you will need let me know and I will get it for you. This is a very solid basically rust and dent free car. This is a very fixable old survivor that would make a great restoration project or custom candidate. He did not have time to do anything else, because he was going out of town for the weekend. He said the main thing keeping it from running is a wire coming out of the distributor needs to be replaced. I would think there is a good chance we can have it running by the time the buyer picks it up, but I cannot make any garauntees.
