1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special (4 Speed) - VIN 72112852R This 1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special was purchased new on 4/13/73 from Marco Competition Enterprises, the Lotus dealer in Montclair, New Jersey. This Europa is in very nice condition and it is evident that previous owners devoted significant attention in maintaining and preserving this car. The twin cam engine runs strong with no smoke or unusual noises while the 4-speed gearbox shifts tight and smooth through all gears....even reverse engages easily.....something of a rarity among the Europas I've driven! The clutch works great and the brakes are fine although as is typical, the vintage Girling brake booster while present, is currently bypassed. The steering is light and tight and both the chassis and suspension are damage and rust free with newly fitted Konis up front and Spax shocks at the rear with height adjustable spring seats. The interior is in very good condition overall but does need some finishing details. The seats have no rips or splits. A new wood dash has been recently installed though some wiring details remain (the electric window switches and interior lights, etc.) and need to be finished. The dash pad was removed during the installation of the new dashboard and is missing but a replacement is readily available from any one of the various Lotus specialists in the US and worldwide The headliner is in very good condition as are the rest of the interior trim, carpets and door panels The original Lotus steering wheel is present and the luggage compartments both front are rear are clean with the rear luggage bin intact. The body is in very nice condition with no significant stress cracks or signs of collision damage. The paint has a very good gloss overall with a minimal amount of the usual chips and scratches although there is an area along the lower window line of both doors that shows evidence of perhaps some spilled trim adhesive or solvent. The glass all around is in excellent condition. The original Lotus alloy wheels are all in very good condition. (including the original Lotus alloy spare rim) A great opportunity to own a low mileage classic Lotus Europa Twin Cam that looks great and can be driven while finishing the various details The car has a clear New Jersey title and is garaged in central NJ about 35 miles from NYC and just 18 miles from Newark Liberty Airport.
