2003 VW Jetta GLS wagon, TDI (Diesel). Odometer says 122,065, but a brand new (not a rebuilt) VW engine was installed at 72,000 miles, so the new engine has only 50,000 miles. The reason the engine was replaced, was because the timing belt unexpectedly broke at 72K. To avoid that same scenario from happening again, I recently (121,400K) had a new timing belt kit installed, including the water pump, seals and everything else. It should be good to go for a long while. The oil was just changed and synthetic oil has always been used. There are new ceramic brakes and new rotors also. The car is in good shape and runs well, but the passenger side airbag is not working. The reason for that is, it deployed itself (just passenger side) back in 2007 and the dealer wanted $3600 to replace it. There was NO ACCIDENT- it just deployed. I had the seat repaired by a leather specialist and tucked the side curtain bags back in the ceiling. It's not very noticeable. The driver's seat has some rub marks from entering the vehicle. (See pic.) The seats are leather. There is a small ding in the driver's door- parking lot rash. The car gets excellent mileage. It averages 38 for everyday driving and in the 40's on the interstate. I have all of the paperwork showing the new engine. It has the 1.9 liter engine, 90 HP, and is a front-wheel drive, 4 cylinder Diesel engine. It has the Monsoon premium radio system and CD changer. The engine light is on... we had it checked out by the dealer and they said it was for the glow plug, but the glow plug checked out as fine.
