Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an eye-catching 1958 Chrysler 300D with dual quad hemi 392. This car is complete and has been in storage for many years. I believe it was redone about 25 years ago. It is a driver, not a show car. This is one of only 618 cars made - it is estimated that there are less than 200 in existence. This car is still eye catching and could be used as it is or it would be an excellent candidate for a full restoration as everything is there. The inspection sticker on the car is from 1975 at which time the car had 78,700 miles. Today the odometer reads 79,751. The car is road worthy and I have been driving it for a few weeks. It runs and stops great, but it could use a set of radials - it still has the old nylon tires. The original 392 still runs strong and has the original carbs and linkage. After being in storage, the car has new plugs, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, belts, hoses, mufflers, the radiator was reconditioned, oil change, 6 new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and some brake lines were replaced. These items were done within the last few months. It features push button drive, "sure grip" differential, 6-way electric seat, power windows, and radio touch tone. The speedometer needle fluctuates and ticks when driving, but it does work. The radio does not work - when turned on it tries to autotune. The old white lacquer paint is cracking and showing its age, but still looks good going down the road. The chrome looks good, has some rust spots, but is still driver quality. I believe the leather interior is still original. It looks good, but it shows its age. It appears to have new rockers, and the quarters and fenders were repaired with panels. The trunk floor is solid except for a few inches in the rear where a piece was welded in place. The rear cross member under the trunk floor is rusted and should be replaced. The buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle. If you are going to either Carlisle or Hershey car shows, we are within two hours of either show. **************************** PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND TERMS OF AUCTION BEFORE BIDDING.
