Vehicle Detail
1959 Nash Metropolitan. Restored several years ago. New brakes all the way around. New exhaust. New tires. All in the last 6 months. Everything works except the radio. This is a very fun and easy to drive car. My wife has no problem driving it. Let me start by saying that if you want an absolute perfect Metropolitan go buy one of the 20K plus ones that are usually listed here on ebay. If you want a Metropolitan just to drive and enjoy and not have to worry about where you park it or where you take it than this is the car. It is by no means perfect but all of the critical things that these cars are known to have problems with are already fixed. Mainly the brakes. This car has a new master cylinder and new wheel cylinders all the way around and for those who do not know that is six new wheel cylinders. The front has two wheel cylinders per side and the back has one per side. Also if you put the new brake fluid in cars with the old wheel cylinders the new fluid will eat up the original rubber and make them useless. Notice how most all project Metropolitans have bad breaks? Now you know why.The engine is very strong and starts right up and runs great every time. I put a new exhaust system on it so it is nice and quiet also. The body does have a few waves here and there but not real noticeable until you look real close. The headliner is not perfect but may just need a good cleaning. The passenger seat has some spots that look like someone tried to repair at one time and did a pretty bad job of it but seat covers are availiable and not very expensive. There is an area of scratches on the passenger side rear quarter where something flew out of a mower and hit it [see picture]. The original gas tank is included with the car but will need to be fixed or sealed before it can be used. Right now there is a boat gas tank in the trunk and it works just fine.
