1984 Ford F-250 6.9 ATS Turbo Diesel 4 spd 4x4 F250 . Classic 1984 Ford F-250 6.9L ATS Turbo Diesel 4 speed manual 4x4 Low Miles ¸.•'´¯)-(¯`'•.¸ Garage Kept since new Starts Right Up, Runs Perfect!! Excellent Condition - Ready for Work or Restoration This is the Truck that started the Diesel Revolution You can buy a newer truck for this amount But you can't buy a better one Destine to be a Classic Solid, Extremely Dependable & Fuel Efficient Second owner since 1987. All Service Records Was Purchased in 1987 with 10,000 miles. Always Garage Kept. I can count the number of times it was driven in the snow on one hand,... and both feet. I was a part time carpenter, when it rained I didn't go to work... forget about snow. 99% Rust Free. Never in an Accident. All Original Paint, except for the hood. Ford Factory paint was defective back in 1984-85. It does need a new paint job. For many years I wanted to paint it, but I thought it would be better in the long run, (for the new owner) to see the truck in it's true original condition. No Bondo, No Repairs, No Rust. There is one dent on the right front fender and a number of parking lot dings. SEE PICTURES. The Tailgate as well as the bed are dented from years of gathering fire wood. The bed is solid with no rust or holes. Needs new Tailgate and R. Tail Light. The interior is in very good condition. Everything works, A/C blows cold. I recently installed Neoprene Seat Covers. There are many Gauges which helps monitor all the mechanicals. No Idiot Lights! I can give details on the gauges at another time, or when you see the truck. I have included a list below. Always kept up mechanically. Oil changed every 3000 miles. Synthetic oil in transmission and differential. Antifreeze every 5 or 6 years. Only recently the key switch has become a little stiff and the fuel gauge for the rear tank stopped working. I installed an ATS Turbo 17 years ago. Parts changed over the years were; Head Gaskets replace after the turbo with upgraded High Pressure Gaskets, Upgraded Injector Pump, fuel pump, air conditioning Compressor Clutch, and Water Pump. New Glow Plugs, originals lasted until 2001. New Rotors, Calipers, Pads, wheel cylinders and rear brakes at 70k, Brakes were 70% remaining at 103k mi. New Spider Gears and posi-traction Clutches, 2008. It has a new Clutch, 2009 along with a new starter. Original clutch still had years to go (the clutch bearing went). All new Universal Joints, 2009. And Batteries of course. Current batteries very strong. * Factory Features & Options: ------ 4 x 4 6.9 Diesel Dual Fuel Tanks 4-Speed Manual Transmission Manual Locking Hubs Power Steering, Power Brakes Air Conditioning, Cruse Control Limited Slip Deferential - 3.73 Gear Ratio ------ * Options Installed -------- Air Horns Air Compressor Air Tank (4 gallon) ATS Turbo, K&N Air Filter Custom grill mounted Hella 100w Driving Lights AIR LIFT® Suspension Assist, controlled from the dash In-between the seat and behind the seat organizers Hummer Tires, Western Aluminum Wheels New Neoprene Seat Covers Heavy Duty Trailer Hitch Complete set of Gauges Trailer Brake Controller Triple Fuel Filtration Winter Floor Mats Headliner shelf Fender Flairs Front Tow Hooks LEAR Fiberglass Cap Sliding Rear Window CB Radio (no antenna) JVC AM/FM Stereo w/Cassette The options above cost over $8000. Also included but not installed is an Aluminum Front Air Dam ------ * Gauges; Tachometer, Turbo Boost Gauge, Pyrometer, Water Temperature, Oil Temperature, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Air Tank Pressure, Air Shock Pressure, Volts, and Analog Clock. The Tachometer is not working. The only stock gauges I trust and use is the speedometer and fuel gauge. Triple Fuel Filtration. RACOR Water Separator, Stock Ford Filter, and KOALESCER final filtration, in that order. (I have never had a fuel problem in 23 years:) Two sets of wheels and tires; 37x12.50R16.5 Goodyear Wranglers (OEM Hummer) on 10" Heavy Duty Western Aluminum Wheels. High Flotation (will go in sand without airing out) with plenty of thread remaining. Plus an Extra set of 33x12.50R16.5 Goodyear Wranglers mounted on the same Aluminum Wheels, only 10" (front) and 12" (rear). Also a lot (70%) of thread but showing signs of dry rot. Original Operating Guide, and the Owner's Guide for 6.9 Liter Diesel Engine. I also have a complete set of Ford Shop Manuals. Negative items worth mentioning. The Original Windshield shows its age from Expressway Driving. There is a click in the front end when parking. I checked the suspension and there is nothing loose enough to tell what it is. Minor oil leak. Leaks three or four drops after a long haul and then one drop a week while sitting. The clutch chatters a little when cold and then goes away. (When the clutch bearing went, the clutch and flywheel still looked very good so I put a new clutch, pressure plate and bearing but did not cut the Flywheel.) And as mentioned the key switch sticks, Tachometer and rear fuel sensor are not working. As the new owner, I would fix the rear fuel gauge, key switch and Tachometer. Then do the Paint Job it so much deserves. I believe if you did that, this truck would be worth over $10,000. You probably couldn't sell it for that amount, but you would have to spend that much or more to get a Mint, Rust Free Diesel 4x4 3/4 Ton Truck to replace it. This Classic Ford will work hard for another 10 years and 100,000 miles with no major problems. Keep it in your garage and out of the rain and snow, (like I did) and you can enjoy it for another 23 years. The engine starts, sounds and performs like day I bought it. The transmission shifts perfectly. All four wheel drive components are 100% and the transfer case shifts effortlessly. A Note about Original Miles: I notice a lot of people selling trucks this age (about 25 years old) are stating 60,000, 115,000 156,000 miles and so forth. What, did everyone not use these trucks? All of them were only driven 3 to 7,000 miles a year? I though I was the only one. Or is it more likely they have 160,000, 215,000 256,000 miles or more? (6-10,000 miles a year). I'm not saying none of them are original miles, I am sure there are others. But with an odometer that only goes to 99,999 you never know. I mean, the average 12k mi./yr. for 25 yrs. is 300,000 miles. That being said; the CarFax shows inconsistent mileage. This is due to the Inspection Station entering the mileage incorrectly on 6/6/2007. Odometer currently shows about 11,000 miles, (still driving it). Actual mileage is about 116,000 miles (odometer was not working for less than a year in 2001. I do have personal Service Records from 1987 to substantiate my mileage. Everything ever done on this truck is stated in writing with the date and the mileage. I always get comments on its looks, as not many people put large tires on a truck and then lower it. I had to put the Air Ride rear suspension because this was the only way I could carry variable loads and still fit it in my garage. My garaged door is only 6'4" tall. Here are my answers to... My reason for selling: I plan on traveling the USA. So I bought, what I believe to be the second best truck ever made (my 1984 Ford 6.9 being the best), a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab Long Bed 5.9 Cummings 6 speed manual 4x4. (that's a mouth full) Second best because I can no way fit 37" tires on it ): I will modify the front fenders and put 35's on it and be happy for the next..... well for the rest of my life. Do the tires rub? The front tires rubs on the leaf springs. When it hits I just back off a dab. I would say I'm loosing less than 5% Turning Radius. I installed those tires in 1995 with 64k miles on the truck. There isn't any evidence of rubbing on the front tires, and of course no damage to the springs. Rear Tires will rub when the payload reaches 3000 lbs. You can put the spacers back in the rear, as you will not have the height limitation I had. . The Factory Gauges were limited and useless. Most diesel owners have a Tachometer and eventually add a Boost Gauge and Pyrometer. Additional gauges you don't normally see on a truck are the Engine Oil Temperature, Fuel Pressure, Air Shock and Air Tank Pressure. Original thick Rubber Floor Covering last forever. Needs an new tailgate and right tail light lens. Dented right front fender. This is the worst part of the original defective paint. The hood was painted years ago. This is the only rust on the truck. I think that equals 1% rust. These are the best tires I ever had. There is over 60,000 miles on them and look how much rubber they have left. Definitely good for at least another 20,000 miles!
