Vehicle Detail
I'm slowly selling off many of my classics. For your consideration today is a very nice 1969 Triumph 650 TR6C. I purchased this bike about 6 years ago as a stalled project. The bike was disassembled, the frame powder coated and the motor was done, according to gentleman I bought it from. I saved the eBay listing and I'll quote from it here: "The bike had only 3700 miles on before the restoration and ran great. Motor has a new top end with cylinders cleaned up and new .40 over pistons/rings and all new seals and gaskets. Shocks are rebuilt with new tubes, seals and bushings. Head was rebuilt." That being said, the bike was shipped to me in pieces. It was not complete. The head was off and I could see that new pistons were installed and the head looked fresh. I assembled the motor, put it in the frame and worked out from there purchasing the missing items: new levers, cables, handlebars, fuel lines, kick lever, plugs, wires, carb kit, peg rubbers, tach drive, oil pressure sensor, after market tank, Pazon ignition, solid state rectifier/diode and various items I'm sure forgetting. I had the British made Wassell seat and the high exhaust, which I believe to be original, not after market. I did purchase the heat shield from England. Rims and tires were on the bike. Rims are decent (Jones and Dunlop). Front tire has some checking. Battery is new and been on a trickle charger and new braided harness installed. The TR6C only came with 1 gauge but I added a two gauge setup with freshly rebuilt instruments. The bike starts, idles and runs nicely. It does however, drop some oil after its been run. I installed new springs and check valves on the oil pump in case it was wet sumping. I've only put a mile or two on the bike since the resto so perhaps some break in miles would clean out the breather. The bike shows quite nicely with many new or sourced parts. It should fetch more than my BIN but it is discounted to reflect the fact that I cannot guarantee the engine work. * * * * * * * * * * * * * I've had tremendous interest in the Triumph and why not, a TR6C is a steal at $6000. To answer a few questions: A clean, properly executed Michigan title will be delivered to the new owner. Since there are literally 0 miles on the bike, I would recommend re-torquing the head, cylinders and rocker boxes after about 50 miles and then again after about 200 miles to be safe. I pulled the bike out of the shop today as I haven't started it in about 6 months. I cleaned the plugs, opened the petcocks and let an ounce or two of fuel run out in case there was any sediment in the tank, tickled the carbs and it started right up.
