1971 Honda CB500 Bike is in very original condition with a only a few exceptions. All of the original fasteners and decals are in place as well as the tool pouch.I bought the bike a few years ago with plans of completely restoring it. One project has led to another and I haven't had time to start on it. I bought it from a friend who had the same idea but he never got around to it either. I did buy a new battery for it and put some gas in the fuel lines and it started on the second kick and idled until the carbs ran out of fuel. I checked the lights,turn signals,dash indicators,horn and everything works with the exception of the electric start which did not work with the button. I didn't bother to install the gas tank because I thought that I would be draining it anyway during. restoration. I was told that the carbs were rebuilt but since I never rode it I can't verify that.The paint is faded on the tank and has some nicks and scrapes. The chrome on some of the covers and exhaust are pitted but for it's age it is very nice. The bike will need some restoration work before it can be ridden.(1) Front tire is whether checked.(2) Fuel lines need replaced(3) Front brake caliper needs rebuilt.(4) voltage regulator was replaced and the wiring associated with that is questionable.(5) wire powering coil needs replaced.(6) side covers are not painted very well and may not be the originals These are the things I know of. The bike could be made very nice as a survivor or restored to it's original state very easy as everything on the bike is there and in good condition.It come with an extra side cover and a service manual.
