Vehicle Detail
This is a re-listing because the first buyer did not pay and complete our auction. This is not a game! This auction is open to bidders who live and will take delivery of the bike ONLY within the United States. This is a 1984 BMW R65 motorcycle. It is a complete bike and everything on it works like it did out of the factory. The bike starts, stops, rides, shifts just great. It is that "sweet spot" size of engine that is fun and easy to ride around town with great handling and yet will cruise those back road blacktop weekend trips with ease. It is a No Reserve auction and if you are high bidder at the end of the sale you have the responsibility to complete payment and pick-up of the bike. General Information: I've owned this bike for less than a year. I am selling it because I don't ride enough to keep it. It's nothing but pure fun to ride. Mechanical: The engine starts instantly and idles down to a smooth rhythm. It runs great. The transmission shifts easily through all the gears. Everything that was installed on it from the factory that is mechanical works and works well. Exhaust pipes (OEM originals) show wear to the chrome but have no holes or dents. I just did a fresh oil change and new filter last month. I replaced the oil pan gasket when the oil change occurred. The left Bing carburetor will leak once in a while when the engine is running but never when the petcock is shut off. It's more of a nuisance than a problem. The float needle is clean, float level is right but it still happens sometimes. If you know BMW's and Bing carbs you know how frustrating they can be at times. Electrical: The battery is two years old and has had a Battery Tender on it the whole while I have owned it. The wiring harness is complete and unmolested by any modifications or damage. Headlight and tail light are complete and work properly. The ignition switch functions and has a key. The headlight and front running lights work properly together. Paint & Chrome: The paint is original and shows it's age. The factory trim and decals are all present. It has a nice worn patina to it. There are a few dings here and there but nothing that takes away from the overall original look of the bike. The chrome shows very little age-related pitting and is generally very good to excellent. Tires & Wheels: The front tire is in new condition. The rear tire is almost new. They are a matched set of Bridgestone tires. Wheels are straight and true. The brake shoes and drums are all present and in good condition. Legal: The title is clear and in my name and will immediately transfer in all 50 states. There are no liens against the bike. A clean Bill of Sale (from me) will be issued with payment of the bike along with the clear title. No warranty or guarantees are expressed or given with the sale of the bike. Payment & Pick-Up: Payment is expected to be received within 7 (seven) days of the end of the auction. Only three forms of payment are acceptable. A USPS Money Order (no other off-brands), a Cashier’s Check drawn on a major American bank (Wells Fargo, US Bank, etc.) or cash payment upon pickup if it is within those 7 (seven) days. Whether you mail it or pay in person; payment is expected with a week.Ignore the PayPal deposit. That's an eBay software matrix problem. Pick-up of the bike is expected within 10 (ten) days from the end of the auction. I will help you load it in your truck/trailer or work with a shipping company if you choose to go that route. I can deliver the bike to you if you are within 200 miles of Cedar Falls, Iowa for 50 (fifty) cents a loaded mile (pre-paid along with the final price of the bike.) Questions: Look at my feedback. I take care of my buyers, treat them right and expect the same in courtesy in return. Read the entire auction description, look at all the pictures and ask any questions you have. I will answer them promptly to the best of my knowledge from what I know from working with the bike.
