Up for auction is a 2008 Mercury Mariner Premier with 169,087 miles. Good reliable vehicle that has been a daily driver until we got a new one last week. Cranks every time, never had any mechanical issues, never ran hot, and I'd not be afraid to drive cross country in it. It does have some quirks that recently started, so see the full details: THE BAD:Interior is very dirty and needs a cleaning, as you'd expect from a vehicle that has hauled around a child in a car seat for 5 years. Has staining and wear on the seats, carpet, and trim. Headliner is a little loose in a few spots, but not bad. A good cleanup is needed and would fix most of the stains, but probably not all. Nothing is broken or damaged other than cosmetically.The ABS brake system has started acting strange in the past few weeks. When you push the brakes, the ABS light comes on and the ABS makes a noise as if trying to engage for a split second. Then the lights go off and everything is fine. This doesn't affect the driveability or stopping, its just very annoying. I've been told its likely a broken sensor ring on one of the wheels, or a faulty ABS module. when the ABS problem first happened, our local tire place looked at it, thinking it was a fuse. Somehow after them playing with the fuses, the cruise control stopped working, the tail lights stopped working, and the windshield wipers only work at full speed. We haven't looked into this, but I'm assuming he forgot to replace a fuse or caused one to blow and didn't fix it. I think this would be an easy fixFor years the ignition has been a bit tricky. You have to push in on the key as you turn it to crank. Nothing hard to do, its become second nature after driving it a while. But someone who had never driven it before would turn the key as with most cars, and nothing would happen. But push inward while you turn it to crank, and it cranks right up every time and runs like a top. THE GOOD:very reliable, daily driver.uses no oil between changescold A/C, hot heaterpower windows and locks all workplenty of tread on tiresno rust, has been in the south its whole life.
