1987 BMW R-Series

I am selling this BMW Project. It started life as a R80RT from 1987. The bike was running and in good condition, except for the rear brake that was not working. The odometer was 35,000 miles. The bike was from New Hampshire. It was bought with a bill of sale, since it did not have a title (New Hampshire). The idea was to modify the motorcycle to look like a bike from the 1940’s – 1960’s but with the reliability of a modern bike and the response of a monoshock. The original tank, original fender, original instrument panel, original light and tail light were removed and the parts were sold. The frame was cut and the rear frame was eliminated. A custom fear fender was installed. A tank small tank from a R75 (small tank) was put bought. The new tank is not show quality, but the paint is original and in good condition (not if you want a show bike). The gas cap had some pitting but it was cleaned and works fine. I decided I wanted spoke wheels since I didn’t like the look of the the original wheels. A set of spoke wheels for a GS was used. The spoke wheels come with a set of Hidenau tires. Front wheel is 18 inches (4.00) the rear wheels is 17 inches (120/90). Since the new wheel and is smaller, the geometry of the bike has changed. The fork would have to be lowered for the geometry to be corrected. This has not be done yet. In order to make room for a much bigger front tire the front brace was eliminated. To compensate for this and to add stability to the front fork, a custom (much sturdier) race style brace was added, manufactured by Toastertan. An original Denfeld seat was used for the project. The base was welded to the frame. The seat spring was not installed, but is available (it was modified). A custom light bucket was installed. However, a BMW headlight comes with the bike. The bike does not have a front fender installed. However, it comes with one similar to the rear fender. The cylinder covers were modified and sandblasted. A provisional coat of paint was added only to see how they would look when finished. They will need to be repainted. The engine airbox was eliminated a custom cover was added. Individual air failters for each carburetor will have to be added. Engine turns fine. The following parts come with the bike: Rear drum brake pads (1 set new and 1 set used) A pair of custom mirrors A pair of custom blinkers for the end of the handlebars A pair of new petcoks and filters for the petcocks A pair of filters for the gas A pair of rubber hoses for the carburators A custom tail light (Hella) Most of the original hardware (nuts, screws, levers, etc.) Light and light bucket from a BMW R45 (smaller that the one for the R80) A set of front wheel ball bearings A set of new original BMW grips A set of gasket for the cylinder covers. I am selling this as a project or as parts. I do not have the time, the money nor the willingness to finish it. A $500 deposit by Pay Pal within 2 days of closing with balance due in cash or cashiers check within 7 days of closing. If you fail to pay with the 7 days, you will loose your deposit.
