Vehicle Detail
1977 BMW R100RS I recently listed this bike but removed the listing because I thought I might keep, It's really nice and would be hard to find another but it really does have to go, so this time it will go to the highest bidder. I have no idea what the actual mileage is, the odometer show 80,000 but I realized, after taking it on an afternoon ride of about 20 or 30 miles, the odometer added about 300 miles. The gauges need to go to Palo Alto Speedo for a re-calibration. I'm certain from the condition of the bike that it's not anywhere near 80,000. I would be happy to provide additional photos upon request. This is the real deal! An early, non-CFO, 40mm Exhaust, 33/11 European final drive, first year R100RS that I recently picked up from a BMW Certified Master Mechanic and GM of one of the MAX BMW locations. He bought the bike from the original owner and kept it, tinkered with it and enjoyed just looking at it as part of his personal collection for about five years. The BMW was built in December 1976 and was originally purchased on November 19, 1977 from Libby's BMW in New Haven, CT. Having only been registered by the original owner, it is essentially a one owner bike and will come with the original CT title, signed by the owner as issued in 1977. The BMW is super clean, runs great, will cruise all day long at 80-90 MPH and in completely original condition. During the time it was owned by him, he performed the following maintenance: Re-laced front & rear wheels - Stainless SpokesNew Front Wheel BearingsNew Steering Stem BearingsNew Front & Rear Metzler TiresRebuilt Front Brake CalipersNew Rubber Fairing BootsNew Front Brake PadsNew Clutch, Main Seal, lube and assemble splinesRe-Seal Right & Left CylindersNew BMW 40mm Exhaust HeadersNew Points, Condenser I installed the following:New Throttle CablesNew Clutch CableNew Speedometer CableNew BMW Molded Rubber Plug WiresNew BMW/Bosch Spark PlugsNew BMW Rear Mud FlapMiscellaneous New BMW Nuts and WashersNew Parabellum Tall Windscreen (Original Included / Nice Original Condition)The bike will come with the following:New BMW Tachometer CableNew BMW Points & CondensorBMW Oil Filter KitOriginal Owner's ManualOriginal Tool KitOriginal Cable LockBMW Bags w/keys in Really Nice ConditionThe upper fairing appears to have been painted but the rest of the paint work is original. The tank shows some slight wearing by the inseam but I like the patina, just adds to the character of the bike. It is an extremely handsome motorcycle and is a pleasure to just grab a cold one and stare at it. The controls and suspension feel tight and the motor is crisp, lots of torque and runs and sounds the way a vintage airhead should. The transmission is solid and shifts smoothly, just let the revs drop and they snick right into gear. It really is a nicely maintained, original example of a historic seventies German superbike. While this BMW R100RS is really nice, it is being sold as-is, where is, no warranty expressed or implied. As with any vintage motorcycle, you should go through it prior to riding it, just makes good sense! I will accept cash, check or wire transfer and will release the title once the funds have cleared my bank. I will assist your shipper, both nationally and internationally as is reasonable. I will accept a deposit through PayPal only if you agree to pay their fees. Thanks!
