Vehicle Detail
1947 Hudson Pickup with 53 Hudson Hornet 308 Engine, manual trans with OD. Had been modified with Centrifugal Supercharger from a Studebaker Golden Hawk. That modification has been removed, and the truck needs the stock carburetor installed, starter motor installed, and new battery. This is a rare vehicle. Only 3,104 were ever sold. First produced in 1942, then there was a gap for WWII, then Hudson sold them again in '46 and '47. I bought the truck from a friend who's since passed away. I don't have time for this project. I have two new (NOS) carburetors to try. Need one piece of carb linkage between bell crank and carb. The truck has custom-made long tube headers currently, but I have a NOS stock exhaust manifold for it. I also have many parts not shown in the pictures. I have the original steering column, and wheel - the one in it now is Hudson, but from another model. Also have an extra wheel rim or two, and other original parts. I have a Ford Bronco new gas tank and straps that I bought because the dimensions looked right to put between the rear frame rails, same as the original mounted. It was previously running off a gas tank laying in the bed. All the metal trim, grill work was all sent out and polished and re-chromed years ago. It's all wrapped up in paper and boxed up, but some of it has since tarnished. I also have all new custom made glass for the side windows. The dash has been cut where radio went, but could be relatively easily repaired, as it's only a small supporting strap that must be re-made and welded back in place. I have a complete set of original dash panel inserts in somewhat poor shape, and a heater box, but they need restoration. The original bench seat is missing. I also bought a 5th seat out of a Ford Excursion that is short. It's brand new with beautiful leather and could be mounted to fit in this truck because it's the perfect size. The body has some rust in just a couple localized areas just aft of the front fenders. Those are VW Super Beetle turn signals on the front fenders and should be removed to make it look original again. The truck was rewired for 12 Volts quite nicely years ago with aircraft connectors for the firewall pass through.
