Vehicle Detail

1998 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab Diesel 4x4. First year with 24 Valve Cummins in-line 6 diesel engine.5 Speed manual transmission with South Bend clutch ideal for towing. No Reserve.Non-Smoker. I am the 2nd owner. Bought truck in nearly new condition with 84,000 miles on it. Truck spent most of life in Colorado. Was used as my daily driver and to tow my fifth wheel south in the winter. Numerous upgrades to engine to increase gas mileage and power for towing through Rockies. Truck has never been used for fleet, construction, racing, etc. I depended on this truck for daily transportation and maintained it meticulously to be sure I was never stranded. I got another vehicle in 2013 and have only put 20,000 miles on truck since 2013. I haven't seen a nicer 2nd generation Dodge in years. All maintenance is tracked in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheet available upon request. No rust. Interior looks nearly new with no cracks in dash and near perfect leather. Body is straight. All common problems with 2nd generation Rams have been addressed:Fuel pressure checked regularly and lift pump replaced whenever pressure got low. Still has original injector pump as a result. Lift pump last replaced 3,000 miles ago. (lift pump failure destroys injector pump = $$$)Fifth gear nut was repaired with after market solution (Fifth gear nut typically falls off causing loss of fifth gear). Exhaust manifold was replaced with after market solution (OEM prone to cracking). Rear brake cylinder upgraded (OEM cylinders are undersized). Manual transmission (automatic transmissions are notoriously unreliable in these vehicles).Sun shade used religiously (dash typically cracks).Replaced relatively recently:Michelin LTX M/S2 tires 2013. E rated tires allow towing to max capacity of vehicle. Only have 19,000 miles on them but the tires may need to be replaced just due to age.Weather stripping around all doors 2016Front grill, headlights, plastic trim pieces 2016New batteries in 2014New battery cables 2014New leather seat covers in 2011Spare tire hoist 2014Emergency brake cables 2013Intake air heater relays 2014Transfer case rear extension seal 2014Rear pads & drums in 2013Rebuilt transmission and replaced clutch in 2010Upgrades:Smarty ECU programmerExhaust temperature gaugeATS Exhaust ManifoldMag-Hytec rear differential coverMBRP 4" exhaustAFE Pro-Guard 7 IntakeK&N air filterSouth Bend ConOFE clutchSouth Bend HyD X-1.5 slave & master cylinderF1 Diesel Mach 1.6 fuel injectorsChevy rear wheel cylindersHeavy duty Dodge front suspension partsMaxbrake trailer brake controllerTorque King Silver transmission upgradeCIPA 73500 Magna Extendable Power Heated Towing MirrorsRedhead steering boxSet up for bumper, fifth wheel or goose neck towing. Goose neck electrical connector in bed needs to be rewired however. Replacement upper and lower radiator hoses and serpentine belt included with sale. I carried them for emergencies and never needed them. Tool box, fifth wheel hitch and fuel pressure gauge included with sale. Has after-market tailgate. I do not have original. No significant collisions. I backed into a pole on two separate occasions at less than 5 MPH in parking lots. Driver's side quarter panel was caved in so I had it replaced and professionally matched to existing paint on first occasion. Rear bumper was bent and replaced with OEM bumper on second occasion. I also had the clear coat repaired everywhere on the truck except the roof and the doors while it was in the body shop. Both collisions were minor and there is no damage whatsoever to the frame or any other structural components of the vehicle. The original owner stated that he had no collisions and there was no record of any collisions in the CarFax I got at the time of sale. Known Issues (I am not a professional mechanic but these are all maintenance issues I would take care of in the future if I kept the truck. In my opinion, none of this needs to be done right away):AC works but there is a very slow AC leak that could use repair. Possible minor fluid leak near power steering pump that may just be oil blow back from the breather hose.Rear transfer case extension seal has slow leak but have replaced it multiple times and the leak never changes. I've never seen a noticeable difference in the transmission fluid level from this leak.Oil and filter changed February 8th, 2018. Coolant and rear differential could use flushing/changing based on mileage. Brake fluid last flushed in 2013. Needs to be flushed and bled.Front brake pads will need to be replaced soon. Rotors are fine.Water leaks onto driver floor mat during very heavy rains. I replaced all door weather stripping and almost eliminated leak but still happens occasionally. The plastic floor mat catches the water so there is no real impact to the usability of the truck but it could use more investigation and repair.Damage near driver door handle from a screw driver used to break-in many years ago. I repaired the locking mechanism but there is still visible damage to the sheet metal that I didn't repair.Paint has numerous small scratches, dings and some fading. Clear coat is peeling on roof and under rear side windows. Stickers on doors adjacent to window are degrading.Interior leather is in great condition but there is some wear visible on the driver's side where you slide in to sit down. If you don't want oil drips and oil on the bottom of the motor you will need to buy an oil collector bottle and attach it the breather hose. Most people remove the stock bottle to avoid having to empty it and risk it freezing and causing potentially serious engine problems. Search for "Cummins Puke Bottle" if you want more information.I'm happy to take photos of anything you want and answer any questions you might have. Please watch the videos below as I cover most of the upgrades and issues with the truck in more detail. I will post all questions and answers to this listing so every bidder has the same information. Videos:Engine Compartment (I have cleaned the engine since this video to ease inspection): Engine Compartment 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo] Bidding & Inspection: Please do not ask me to sell the truck to you off line. I won't and will report you to Ebay. I am requiring a $500 non-refundable deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of winning the auction. This covers my fees and time to deal with the failed transaction and to start a new auction. Vehicle is sold as-is. You are welcome to have the vehicle inspected prior to purchase. There is a Dodge dealer in Mountain View. I have never been to that dealer and have no relationship with them. I personally think the Chevy dealer in town is fantastic and have seen Dodge trucks being serviced there. You are welcome to come view the truck in person and take a test drive but you will still be required to purchase the truck via the auction. The truck passed smog inspection every time in Colorado but hasn't been tested in at least five years. I have no idea if it will pass inspection in your state if smog inspection is required. I own the vehicle free and clear and have the title ready to sign over. Shipping:Free pickup at my location outside of Mountain View, Arkansas.I can meet you in Batesville or Mountain Home, Arkansas for free pickup if you want to do a one-way rental. These are the nearest significant towns to my location.I can meet you at the Little Rock airport if you want to fly in for $2.00 per mile calculated from my location to the airport. 112 miles = $224 delivery charge. I will deliver the truck up to 250 miles away from my location for $2.00 per mile calculated from my location to your desired drop off point. You are welcome to arrange for a shipping company but be aware that I live on a narrow road in the middle of nowhere and my driveway has no turn around for anything larger than a UPS truck. I typically meet freight companies at Walmart in Mountain View, Arkansas to receive shipments. I can meet the shipper in Mountain View if you set up all necessary details and pay all fees associated with it.On Feb-12-18 at 12:18:33 PST, seller added the following information: 2/12/18 Update: I have cleaned the engine bay up and have better photos of the engine compartment and front suspension. The engine looks fantastic now. Ebay won't let me change or add photos but I would love to send these photos to any interested bidders. I also have a photo of the original window sticker if you want to see exactly what the truck came with from the factory. Send me a message and I'll get these to you promptly.
