1979 Honda CBX

For sale, my 79 CBX with 10,100 original miles. I am the 3rd owner. Previous owner had it since 1980. He bought it from a Honda service manager. The original speedo failed at 7400 miles so the previous owner replaced it. I have the original speedo also. The previous owner is a perfectionist so he also bought NOS tachometer and temperature gauges at the same time since they had faded slightly and did not quite match the new speedo. Over the years, whenever a part weathered or faded, he replaced it with NOS parts. The seat is a NOS part from France that cost $1000. The tank is NOS, that’s why it doesn’t have the large warning sticker on top (NOS replacements didn’t have that). There is one tiny paint chip on the tank circled in one of the photos. All other marks showing in the pics are reflections. NOS 1980 retrofit tail with trunk. Prolink clutch with NOS fibers and steels. The Sankei pipes are almost new. These are the fourth set he put on the bike. Whenever he got a ding or the pipes blued slightly, he replaced them. Carbs were rebuilt by a specialist Honda dealership with new screws, OEM clamps and rubbers. This bike has the very desirable Honda sport kit (lower bars and rear position footrests) fitted. Progressive fork springs installed. Recent Bridgestone BT45 tires. Valve clearances were checked at 5000 miles. I just changed oil and filter and flushed both brake systems. As can be seen from the photographs. this is one of the very best CBX remaining in the US, and CBX have not yet appreciated in value the same way Kawasaki Z1/Z1A/Z1B and Z1-R have. This bike runs and rides flawlessly, and its condition means it is essentially like owning a brand new CBX. Located in N. California. Clean and clear Indiana title.
