Up for sale is a 1964 Sears Allstate, made by Piaggio in Italy. It is essentially a basic version of the VNB125 Vespa, and it was imported to the US and sold through Sears. This Allstate's original engine starts easily and runs reliably. However, this scooter is a partially complete project and needs more work before it can be driven. Please read below for detailed information about the Allstate's condition. Repairs that I have been recently made:New piston and cylinderNew clutch platesNew cablesNew tubes and tiresRebuilt carburetor, new fuel hosesAdjusted engine timingPainted a number of componentsAll electrics work, other than brake light. The scooter can be ridden in the driveway, but needs the following before it can be driven on the road:The transmission pops in and out of gear under load. It has this problem in all gears, but it seems to be worst in 2nd gear. I think it needs a new gear selector cruciform to correct the problem. However, it does shift through all gears and the clutch disengages the engine and transmission properly.The rear wheel seal needs to be replaced. Oil from the transmission gets into the rear brake housing. A new seal is included with the scooter.The lower mount of the front spring is broken and needs to be replaced. A new lower mount is included with the scooter.The rear brake shoes need to be cleaned (after replacing the seal) and the brake light properly wired.The paint is amateur in appearance, almond in color. Previous color was black, but I believe the original color was red. There are multiple dents and cosmetic defects on the scooter, most notably some denting to the right side floor board. The original luggage rack is missing.
