Vehicle Detail
I am relisting the truck, because the winner of the previous auction immediately backed out as soon as the auction completed. The truck is as described below. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. This 1953 International Harvester R-132 is powered by its original 220ci Silver Diamond Engine, backed by a heavy-duty, unsynchronized, 4-speed gearbox. It also features a very rare, "ARISTOCRAT" hydraulic flatbed that was manufactured by The Truck Engineering Co., powered by a PTO driven hydraulic pump, manufactured by Blackhawk Mfg. Co. The tilting bed is a very rare factory option, and the controls are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard and cab floor. The tilt bed and hydraulic system works flawlessly! I hauled this truck from a barn in West Virginia about 5 years ago, though I believe the truck was originally owned in Indiana. The truck is all original, other than regular maintenance pieces and paint, and is offered with a clear Virginia title. Some surface corrosion is present, as visible in the photos, but no major corrosion or rust anywhere. Frame and body are both very solid. Dings and dents can be seen around the body, and the driver side window is cracked. IH R132 - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo] On Nov-08-17 at 13:53:36 PST, seller added the following information: Hi Bidders! Because the last high bidder backed out of the previous auction (and I now have a good idea of why), I'd like to add a few notes for everyone bidding. Hopefully this will avoid anyone else bidding who doesn't understand what it means to be an IH-132. Please know that is a 64 year old truck, originally intended for heavy-duty work on a farm or other industry. It many ways, this truck is more similar to a farm tractor than to a modern pickup truck. The truck drives well. However, this truck model was never designed to be driven at high speeds. The top speed of an R-132 is about 50 mph, but they should not be made to sustain speeds over 45mph over long distances. Doing so risks damaging the engine and/or the tires. If you purchase the truck, please plan on trailering it home unless you happen to live very close to Fincastle, VA (and know how to drive an unsyncronized transmission). Also, please note (as already described in the listing above) that this truck does not have operable brake lights. In short, don't bid on this truck unless you understand what you are buying (or are prepared to learn)! If you have any specific questions, do not hesitate to ask. I'll do my best to reply with an accurate answer.
